final adieu to Mrs. K

The landlady, owner of my apartment, died a sudden death,
the day before yesterday.

She came to Tokyo and began to live in her own apartment
last summer.

She lived alone next door to me. Her son lives upstairs.

She liked gardening very much. When I saw her doing some
gardening, I went outside and we often enjoyed chatting.

Her sudden death shocked me and made me sad.
Her son found her dead in bed on the morning of March 8.

When I talked to her just on the day before her sudden death,
she was quite all right. She said that she wanted to be much
stronger mentally.

No one can tell what will happen tomorrow.
No, tomorrow may not come.
Let's not put off till tomorrow what we can do today.

Please rest in peace, Mrs. K.
Do you know how much I miss you?

(at 5 p.m. today )

Go for it, koharu!

Today I took koharu to her swimming school
because her mother was busy with her work.

koharu had ear troubles and had surgery
on her ear twice.

Last summer her doctor finally allowed her
to do swimming at school.
How happy she was then!

It is now six months since she began
to learn swimming at a private swimming school.
koharu herself made the decision.

Today I was surprised to find that koharu,
who was first afraid of water, was now enjoying swimming
--practicing flutter kicks with a kickboard.

I hope doing swimming will make her weak legs stronger.

Go for it, koharu!

(koharu is now writing music---her third song)

Showa Kinen Park in March

Today I visited Showa Kinen Park again.
I visited it last on Feb. 20.

When I arrived at Nishi-Tachikawa Station,
I was surprised to find a lot of people
waiting in front of the entrance.
There might have been some sporting event.

This time I walked to Japanese Garden.
I sat on a bench and enjoyed quiet, calm,
and peaceful Japanese Garden.
