(in Nice, France: Do you like Chagall? )
Having an early breakfast, I left Geneva in Italy for Nice in France, driving along the beautiful Riviera Coastline. I saw the beautiful light blue Mediterranean Sea on the left.
Then I saw old brick houses standing in a row, shining yellow mimosas in full bloom and a lot of fields of olives. "I am now really in Europe," I said to myself.
In the City of Nice I first visited MUSEE NATIONAL MESSAGE BIBLIQUE MARC CHAGALL. It was located between palm trees and lavender fields. It was an elegant and beautiful building with a carpet like lawn.
I was impressed by Chagall's paintings which formed the "Message Biblique.” They represented the history of Noah, Abraham, Jacob and Moses, the Creation of man and Paradise on earth.
A French guide explained in English that in those paintings Chagall used 'red' for love, 'blue' for life and 'yellow' for hope. It was a very impressive explanation.
In that museum there was a small concert hall with beautiful stained glass windows designed by Chagall himself. I wished I could enjoy music in such a lovely concert hall.
Then we walked along Promenade des Anglais. There stood high-class hotels and old aristocrats' mansions along the Promenade. We also enjoyed walking on the beach.
I was surprised that the beach of Nice was white, because it was not sand but small white stones that made the beach.
The City of Nice in France was really a nice place.
