　長期に渡ったベトナム戦争も米国の無期限北爆停止で終焉を迎えつつあったこの頃、世相は明るい曲を求めていたに違いない。前年の７１年にはジョンレノンが反戦ソングを立て続けに出していたそんな時代だった。日本では大学紛争がエスカレートして武闘化していった頃のお話。

　この曲はニューヨーク育ちだったロバートラムがセントラル・パークで曲想を得たという。この曲のあまりにも有名なピアノのイントロはイマジンと共に、すぐ真似してピアノで弾きたくなりますね。でも小生はそれに続くピーター・セトラのベース・ラインも好きです。

ロバート・ラムと(出鱈目なイタリア語にもYes I canのみの)ピーター・セトラの掛け合いパターンがいいですね。
