EOA - Cosmic Surfin'

　

　Youtube Surfin' を楽しんでいたら面白い動画を発見。YMOの高橋幸宏氏が亡くなってからしばらく経つが、そのオマージュとも思えるYMOのコピーバンドの動画を発見。個々のテクニックをうんぬんするつもりは無いが、一番印象に残ったのはすました顔でベースを弾いている小柄な女性。そのキーボード奏者らしからぬ運指に驚いた。ほとんど親指、中指、人差し指がメインで時々薬指、小指にいたっては使ってないぞ。ピアノをやっている身からしたら驚愕。それでいて打鍵は正確でバンドの音が締まって聴こえる。ベースの持つノンレガートの雰囲気を鍵盤で再現するとこういうことなのか。。実際に細野晴臣氏がどう弾いていたかは謎だが。。なおバンド名のEOAとは"End of Asia" ではなく"Endoh of Asia"だそうな。 途中でチラッと女性の足だけ映るシーンがいいですね。　

　小生にとってYMOが登場した１９７８年はとても思い出深い年。大半をアメリカ出張で過ごし、毎日カーラジオでＡＴ４０を聴いていた。当時はやっていたのはQueen の We will rock you / We are the ChampionとかVan HalenのYou really got meとかEric CraptonのBeautiful Tonightとか。映画だとSaturday Night Fever とか Star Wars とか Cross Emcounter of Third Kindとかそんな時代だった。 　

　そんな私が開港したばかりの成田空港に帰国した頃に日本では"勝手にシンドバッド"や"ランナウェイ"など聴いたことのない音楽が流行していた。ロックで言えば奇妙なテクノブームというやつだ。そんな頃に現れたインストゥルメント主体のＹＭＯに強い衝撃を受けたことを記憶している。世はJapan as NO.1の時代、東京はテクノポリスだと浮かれてました。そんなＹＭＯをリアルタイムで聴いていなかった若い人達(一部例外アリ）が 今時コピーするなんて面白いなぁって思いました。

BQUADRATUM - Far Beyond The Sun 2021

　久々に日本のロックで衝撃を受けました。このバンドはYngwie Malmsteen の曲を耳でコピー(?) してかつアレンジもしてしまうという恐るべきテクニックの持ち主達です。とくにバイオリンでギターを再現、ライトハンドまで移植してしまうという発想がすごいです。

　ゴスロリ・ファッションのバイオリンの方は藝大出身みたいですが、速弾きでも音程がしっかり安定していて凄みを感じます。他にもDream Theater の曲なんかもやってくれていてうれしいですね。

乃木坂46『インフルエンサー』踊ってみた

　ずいぶん前から乃木坂のファンです。レコ大、インフルエンサーでよかった。この曲辺りで取れなければもう取れないだろうと思っていたので。ＰＶとか歌番組では全体のダンス・フォーメーションがよくわからないのでこのような完コピには感心するばかりです。

　各メンバーごとの衣装まで誂えている凝りようですが、なぁちゃんポジションの人は体形、ヘアスタイル、ちょっとした仕草まで似せている気がする。裏センターの万理華ポジションの子もキレていて頑張っていると思います。

　車を運転中に聴いていたFMで流れていて、気になりました。唄っているのはボブ・マーリーの息子。英語の発音にかなりクセがありますね。

　今リアルにヤバそうなご時勢にピッタリの曲です。果たして原発事故は人類への警鐘か。水や牛など汚染を連想させる映像が原発とともに現れます。英国プログレらしい難解な単語が並びます。

　ロバート・プラントのデュエットって渋くていいですね。歌詞の内容とは全然シチュエーションが違うけど、なぜかノースショアをドライブするときに聴きたいような曲だな。

　呪文のように繰り返す歌詞"Don’t hate me cause I’m beautiful"が気になってケリー・ヒルソンをブログにアップしてみました。このＰＶはパロディー（あるいはオマージュ）になっていますね。ドナ・サマー、ダイアナ・ロス、ジャネット・ジャクソン、ＴＬＣがいかにもそれらしいコスチュームで登場します。それにしてもこのＰＶは金かかってますねぇ。

　英国の音楽雑誌ＭＯＪＯのオマケＣＤにニールヤングの名アルバム『ハーベスト』のカヴァー盤が登場した。このアルバムでラストを飾る曲がコレ。最近ＦＭでこの曲を聴いてぐぐっと昔を想いだしたのだが、これはこれで渋い。 チップ・テイラーはニール・ヤングより一歳年上でカントリーを中心に活躍されている方です。ギターの音色も原曲の変拍子を独自にアレンジしたあたりも秀逸です。

　先日ＴＶでウェインライトが生まれ育ったというニューヨーク州ダッチェスカウンティーのラインベックの町を見た。ハドソン川を北上した場所にあって秋には紅葉の美しい小さな町だ。いつか機会があったら行ってみたい。最近ではクリントン元大統領の一人娘の結婚式の話題でもラインベックが登場。

　冒頭の映像はヴァンパイアとかウイルスを連想させる。これはウォッカメーカーとタイアップしてますね。シャキラの影響も感じます。

　小生の大好きな平均律１－２４の壮大なフーガの一節がイントロとエンディングに使われているが、この曲には全然合っていないように思えるのだがいかがだろうか。彼女の好みなのかな。でもこの曲にはそんな小細工は不要では。

昨年秋のＳＮＬのＬｉｖｅ映像を観てみよう。このメイド服っぽいコスチュームが今まで着た中ではベストではないでしょうか。左手の光物の大げさなグローブには指輪も。曲のタイトルに合わせたのか演奏もすべてモノトーン着用の女性のみで編成されている。しかしこれどう考えても口パクですよね。
