Are we in early summer?

2010-04-21 13:19:00 | ノンジャンル
It is very hot today.
I feel as if we were in early summer.

According to TV news at noon,
the temperature, now in Tokyo, stands 25℃ !

I went to the dentist in the morning
and had my teeth examined.
I'm glad every tooth of mine is all right.

Oh, koharu is coming back from school.
I think I'll go and see her at her home.

European masterpieces from the Boston Museum

I've never been to America.
I've never been to Boston.

Today I went to Roppongi with Ms M
and enjoyed European masterpieces
from The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

All works of art exhibited there fascinated me.

Before going to Roppongi, Ms M and I went to Ginza
after an interval of two months.

I've lost my appetite since my trip to Egypt
but today's lunch restored my appetite.

I spent a good day.

ten years have passed

It is 10 years since I came to Tokyo from Niigata.
It was on April 17 in 2000 that I started my life
in a small apartment in Tokyo.

koharu, my granddaughter, was a six-month-old baby.
koharu's brother was six years old.

koharu is now in the fifth grade of elementary school!
Her brother is now in the second year in high school!
They are growing each day.

How about me?
I'm getting stronger day by day, I feel.
I'm enjoying every moment of my life.

I'd like to live and learn as Mahatma Gandhi said--

Live as if you were to die tomorrow.
Learn as if you were to live forever.

---------------------------------------
April 17 in 2000 was a beautiful spring day,
while what a cold day it was today, April 17 in 2010!

I was surprised to find it was snowing this morning.

to Cairo Airport

Leaving the hotel early in the morning, we hurried toward Cairo.
A policeman with a gun got in our bus to protect us from danger.

Actually I saw many policemen with a gun standing here and there
in Egypt.

Traffic jam in downtown Cairo was terrible. Was it because
it was Monday? No. It was always the same, our guide said.
No traffic rules. No traffic lights except three places.

Our guide said to us "This is a world where the stronger
prey upon the weaker."

Every driver was trying to weave his way through the traffic
with a car horn.

People were crossing the street without any hesitation!
They didn't seem to be afraid of cars at all!

----------------------------
Wherever I may go, I am interested in its nature and people
who live there.
I'd be happy if I had chances to talk with them.

The Desert of Sahara and the Great Nile fascinated me.
I am happy to say that Egypt was more than I had expected.

Anyway, I will continue to
"Explore, Dream and Discover."

I was leaving Egypt for Japan.

to a hotel in Alexandria

We got on our bus again and went to a hotel.

In the bus our guide told us that Cleopatra loved Alexandria.
She was no beauty. She did not love Antony at all.
What she loved was Antony's power.
Is it true? Nobody knows the truth.

(from my bus window to our hotel in Alexandria)

It was late in the evening that we checked into a hotel.
It was a wonderful hotel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
