sea and snow

I spent four days in Niigata City
and two days in Tochio, my hometown.

Spring was approaching in Niigata City.
I went to the beach. I sat there watching
the waves beating upon the seashore.
The sea was very calm.


Spring was late in Tochio. There was still
a lot of snow in the back yard.

But this scenery shows spring will surely come.

What a lovely day!
My busy days will be over this evening.
I am going home, to Niigata, tomorrow.

March 19th is the anniversary of my husband's death.
He has been dead for 32 years, but I always feel
as if it were only yesterday.

koharu's mother was very busy yesterday.
Her father went to work, though it was Sunday.
Her brother was also busy with his own hobby.

koharu and I pulled up weeds in her garden.
koharu was trying to root up weeds.
koharu didn't mind her nails getting dirty.

boke in her garden was in full bloom.

happy birthday, daughter!

You were born very small.
You often cried in the night.
You were weak until three.

You got stronger each day
and saved your weak mother.

You've now grown up to be
a nice lady with a gentle heart.

All that I wish you to know is
that you are always loved by me.

rainy day

It rained all day today.
koharu and I walked to day nursery in the rain.
koharu seemed happy to walk in the rain.

koharu's umbrella is small.　
koharu's umbrella is blue.
koharu's umbrella used to be her brother's.

I bought it for my grandson
when he was four years old.
I didn't think he would have a sister
when I bought it.

I'm glad both koharu and her brother
love this small umbrella.
