Yesterday I felt a little better and went to NHK学園
in Kunitachi to attended a lecture by Mr. Kenichi Okoshi,
「NHKニュースウオッチ９ キャスター.」
I had already paid 3000 yen for the lecture in February.
Oh, how lucky I was to get well enough to attend his lecture!
The big lecture room was full of people---about 200 people.
I sat at the left of the front row.
I am shortsighted and have a problem hearing.
First, he said to us, "The word キャスター is incorrect.
‘anchor’is the very word."
He is a news Watch 9 anchor.
“I’ve been a political reporter. I am not an announcer,”
he said.
Going to the scenes, having interviews, gathering
materials or accumulating a lot of information---
these are the most important things for him to make
some comments.
When he makes some comments on some issues,
he always tries to be sincere.
He always thinks of the age he is living in.
He always wonders what he should comment at the moment.
He is trying his hardest to make his own comments
as a news Watch 9 anchor.
He does and will continue his efforts towards the achievement
of「道」を極める.
After the lecture, I had a slight headache and hurried back to
my apartment in Kodaira.
I was tired but I received something encouraging from his lecture.
