a sudden thunderstorm

Bad weather was expected today.
It was worse than I had expected.

There was a sudden thunderstorm
around the time koharu, my granddaughter,
was coming home.

She came home wet and muddy.
She said she had fallen in the mud.

The weather began to clear early in the evening.
I saw the blue sky and white ajisai, hydrangea.

Mitake-keikoku in Okutama

Yesterday I enjoyed walking along the upper part
of the Tamagawa---Mitake-keikoku Valley.
I walked about 10 kilometers.
The scenery along the river impressed me so much.

There were huge rocks in the river and junior high school
boys were practicing riding on a mountain bike!

Many young men were paddling their canoes.
They were shooting the rapids. Some were enjoying fishing.

The water was so clear.
The leaves were fresh and green.
The wind sighed in the branches.

My mother's day ended in a happy dinner party
by my daughter's family.

a thousand winds

Every morning I enjoy a radio program "Tidbits in English,"
monoshiri-eigo-juku.

It is a very interesting and useful program.
The theme in the program is different each day.
Friday's theme is "A Look at the Stars."

James Tengan picks up a singer and the listeners enjoy
one of his/her songs.

Today he picked up Susan Osborn, an American singer-songwriter.

She sang that popular song, I Am a Thousand Winds, in English.
As you know, its author is unknown and its music is by Arai Man.
This English song was recorded in Susan Osborn's album
A Thousand Winds three years ago.

The English song I Am a Thousand Winds made me feel more lonely.
I like it very much.

I was very glad to find one karin-no-mi
among the leaves of my karin.
I wonder if it will ripen in autumn.

Grass grows after rain.
The weeds were dense along Tamagawa-josui.
I'm afraid they will soon be pulled up.
