unforgettable moment

Yesterday I took out my granddaughter for watching Mt. Fuji. We took Chuo Line and Tama monorail.

My granddaughter and I had lunch on the grassy banks of the Tama-gawa River and played on the field of its dry riverbed.

She looked so happy. We were excited to watch Mt. Fuji, the sharp outline of mountains and the beautiful blue sky.

She said to me, "You will come to outer space,if you go into the sky." She is a scientist!

She will enter hospital on Dec. 19 and is going to undergo surgery on the ear and throat on Dec. 20.

She will be put under general anesthesia. She will stay in hospital for a week.

Her only concern is if Santa Claus will come to her hospital.

I hope everything will be all right with her.

SAYURI, a Hollywood movie

Yesterday, after volunteering in Kunitachi City, I hurried to a movie theatre in Tachikawa City. It was the very day of the release of a Hollywood movie SAYURI both in Japan and U.S.A.

The original is a novel written by Arthur Golden. The title is 'Memoirs of a Geisha.' He writes about how Chiyo, a poor Japanese girl in a fishing village, becomes a renowned geisha named SAYURI.

There is 'poverty, cruel treatments, schemes, jealousy, betrayal, gorgeousness, success, privilege, beauty, and art in the movie.

It is an American movie, the story is set in Japan, the heroine is a Chinese and all the actors and actress speak English. Strange to say, everything was natural and I didn't feel any discomfort at all.

Ubiquitous

Yesterday I went to " C & C Users' Forums & i EXPO 2005" held at Tokyo Big Sight. The theme of i EXPO was "U can change."

U means Ubiquitous. It was three years ago when I first heard of the word "Ubiquitous." "Ubiquitous" is a Latin word meaning "everywhere."

I heard some presentations on how our life would change by Ubiquitous Computing. Those presentations were given in Japanese but they were too difficult for me to understand. But it's ok, I'm always interested in what I do not understand.

I went to Tokyo Big Sight by 'yurikamome' and came back by water bus--from Hinode Pier to Ariake Terminal. It was only fifteen minutes' boarding but it was wonderful! I loved it.

blue sky in winter

We are now in winter, but what a lovely day here in Tokyo!

As I often write, I am from Niigta. In winter you can't have such a beautiful day like this in Niigata.

My granddaughter and I enjoyed walking in the sun. Holding my hand, she talked and sang a lot.

We enjoyed a little peace and quiet.
