early winter morning

It's a fair and calm morning.
I enjoy the blue sky among the trees.

Many of trees here are dropping their leaves.
The wind is drifting the fallen leaves
against the hedge of tamagawa-josui.

What a peaceful morning!

A friend of my good old friends made and sent me
nice caps to put on the tops of my karin-bottles.
She likes doing embroidery. Lovely wild plants are
embroidered on them. How nice!

I preserve karin, Japanese quince, with honey every year.
I eat a few slices of karin and put a little honey on my
toast for breakfast.
Karin with honey has made me strong, I believe.

How thoughtful of you to make these caps for me!
I'll think of you every morning when I twist the cap off
my karin-bottle.
