NHKの”らららクラシック”でアイルランド民謡「ダニー・ボーイ」を特集していた。
「ダニーボーイ」はいろいろな歌手が歌っているが、エヴァ・キャシディの歌声を聴いてとても感動した。
エヴァ・キャシディは33歳のとき皮膚がんで亡くなったが、BBCの番組で彼女の歌を取り上げたのをきっかけにして彼女の歌声が世界中に広まったそうだ。
戦争に赴いた息子への親（母親だと思う）の切実な思いを歌いあげている。
