モンサント 最高裁で勝つ

昨日の本にちょっと関連するんですが、

少し前に、モンサントが最高裁で訴えられたハナシがあったんですな。




Gentically modified seeds have their day in court

It’s the case of a multinational corporation vs. small American farmers, environmental activists and people who want to know more about the origins of their food. For the first time in US history, the Supreme Court will hear arguments against genetically engineered crops and the dangers they pose to the environment.

農家が、モンサントを、遺伝子組み換作物とそれが環境に与える危険性をめぐって、最高裁で訴えているってわけで。


結局、モンサントが勝ったんですな。

Monsanto GM seed ban is overturned by US Supreme Court

The bio-tech company Monsanto can sell genetically modified seeds before safety tests on them are completed, the US Supreme Court has ruled.

安全性テストが完了する前でも、モンサントは遺伝子組み換え作物の種子を売ってよくなった。

A lower court had barred the sale of the modified alfalfa seeds until an environmental impact study could be carried out.


連邦の下級審では、環境への影響研究が実施されるまでは、遺伝子組み換えアルファルファの販売は禁止の判決がでていた。

But seven of the nine Supreme Court Justices decided that ruling was unconstitutional.

最高裁は９人中７人の判事が、その判決は違憲だと判断した。

つまり、一旦禁止の判決が出ていたにも関わらず、市場に出回ってたんで、違反だとして農家が最高裁で戦ったら、結局、最高裁はその判決を覆して、逆にお墨付きを与えることになってしまったってことなんですね。

９人中７人ということは、右か左かという党派をまたいで、圧倒的な多数派を形成しているということで、コーポレートクラシーは安定した米国支配を実現している、ということが言えるのかもですな。


まあ、最高裁は、ちょいとフツーの裁判所と違ってて、かなり政治的な感じがしますよね。
