at a farm

It rained on and off all day. I went to the nearest
post office to send a letter to my friend.

It was raining but I took a detour to visit a farm.
All the flowers I saw on the way were drooping in the rain.

But grapes and sweet chestnuts in the farm looked very fine.
They were growing ripe. I enjoyed peace of mind.

I woke up at 5: 30 this morning but did not get up.
I turned on the radio. Then a good old song struck my ear.
The song was 'sora yo' sung by towa-e moa,
one of my favorite songs.

I like looking up at the sky.

Sky is the space above the earth.
Sky stretches out endlessly into the space.
Sky reminds me of the fact that the earth is one of
the planets in space.

Peace on Earth, Happiness to You.

koharu's mini-tomatoes

koharu, my six-year-old granddaughter, sowed several seeds
of mini-tomatoes in the garden. She says they will bear
red and yellow mini-tomatoes.

This is a picture of the flowers of yellow mini-tomatoes,
she says. I've never enjoyed yellow mini-tomatoes.

I'm looking forward to eating koharu's yellow mini-tomatoes
with her.

today's flower

I was walking along tamagawa-josui around 4 o'clock
this afternoon. I was on my way to school where my
granddaughter waited for me to come.

I was filled with joy when I saw a single no-kanzou,
orange wild lily, among green bushes.

I know this flower will keep only for one day.
Yesterday it was a bud, today in flower, and tomorrow
will be faded.
