unsettled weather

We've had some spring showers lately.

It was raining heavily during the night.

The weather in the morning cleared
and the sun began to shine.

But the weather grew worse in the afternoon.

There was a distant rumble of thunder
when I was walking home.

The lightning flashed!
Then the thunder roared!

I had barely got home when it began to rain.
