On the third day, yesterday, we went to Oku-shiga,
took a gondola lift and went up to the top of
Mt. Yakebitaki which is 2006 meters high.

On the top of the mountain there was a beautiful pond
named Chigo-ike. After walking around the pond, we went
down the mountain about ten kilometers.

It took me one and a half hours. Our bus was waiting
for us and took us to our hotel. We had curry and rice
for lunch and soaked in a hot spring.

We left the hotel at two in the afternoon. I arrived
at my apartment very late at night.

I felt happy and grateful for being alive.

On the second day we left our hotel at half past eight
by bus and went to Suzuri-kawa. Then we took a ski lift,
arriving at the top of Mt. Maeyama, which is 1796 meters
high.

We began to walk towards Onuma-ike, the largest pond
in Shiga-kogen. It was a long way to go up and down.

How happy we were when we finally got to Onuma-ike
and ate lunch! After lunch we started to walk again,
enjoying the fresh autumn air in Shiga-kogen.

We walked about 4 hours on the second day.

I am a member of Azumino Trekking Club.
I joined the trekking off into Shiga-kogen
from September 28 to September 30.

The weather was very fine during our stay in Shiga-kogen.
We enjoyed the early autumn there.
We walked across the calm moors.
We saw many beautiful, peaceful ponds.

On the first day I left my apartment around six o'clock
in the morning and joined the members of the group.

We arrived at Kido-ike, Shiga-kogen, around noon.
We sat beside the pond and ate lunch. Then we began
to walk across moors watching alpine plants.

Most flowers had gone and some of them were in fruit.
I walked from Kido-ike to Hasu-ike,
about two hours on the first day.
