On behalf of the American people – including Muslim communities in all fifty states – I want to extend best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world. Ramadan Kareem.
米国民、全米50州のムスリムコミュニティーを代表して米国と世界中のイスラム教徒の皆さんにおめでとうを申し上げます。ラマダンカリーム。
Ramadan is the month in which Muslims believe the Koran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, beginning with a simple word – iqra.
ラマダンとは、イスラム教で、預言者ムハンマドが、コーランを授けられた月だと信じられています。それはイクラ、という簡単な言葉で始まります。
It is therefore a time when Muslims reflect upon the wisdom and guidance that comes with faith, and the responsibility that human beings have to one another, and to God.
だから、この月は、イスラム教徒が信仰の教えや導きを、そして他の人々や神に対する責任を自覚する時なのです。
いや、やりますなあ。大統領自ら、イスラム教のラマダンについて語る。いいですねえ。
