CEREZO FAVOURITE TO REPLACE BANIDE AT AL WASL

Brazilian coach Toninho Cerezo is understood to be Al Wasl’s number one choice for their vacant managerial position following the sacking of Laurent Banide.
The Cheetahs are on the lookout for a seventh boss in just 15 months and Cerezo, who has coached both Al Shabab and Al Ain in the past, features prominently on their wishlist.
Banide was relieved of his duties just five months into a two-year deal and 24 hours after a 3-1 home defeat to 10-man Al Shabab. It was Wasl’s fifth defeat in eight matches under the Frenchman’s guidance.
And it seems the club are now looking to hire Cerezo, who has tasted success in the UAE, leading Al Shabab to the league title back in 2008. He also spent a brief time with Al Ain in 2009-10.
The 58-year-old is currently in charge of Japanese J. League side Kashima Antlers, who he led to back-to-back league titles in 2000 and 2001 during his first spell with the club.
Saleem Abdel Rahman has taken up the Wasl hotseat on an interim basis until a permanent boss can be found and is likely to be in the dugout when they travel to Ajman in the Arabian Gulf League this Friday.
Wasl currently lie eighth in the Arabian Gulf League standings with six points from four matches while they have lost three of their four League Cup clashes so far this season.

自分も続投して欲しいです。
アントラーズはそれくらいの監督じゃないと駄目です。
自分が監督だったら髪の毛はかなり抜けてるか、真っ白な状態ですからね、今の惨状は。
今は控えにまわってる岩政や野沢も、若い時にスタメンに抜擢したのがセレーゾだからこそ不平不満を飲み込めてる部分があると思う。
試合後コメントで来季のことに時々触れたりしてるので、来季も指揮をとってくれると信じてます。
しかし、トニーニョ・セレーゾに課されたこの使命は、間違いなくクラブの将来への重要な布石となる。彼の手腕を買っているからこそ、この過渡期に監督を再度任せたのであり、少なくとも３年は彼にクラブを委ねたい。
