こんなきれいな右肩上がりの会社があったなんて、それがUSスチールだったなんて、ってとこですかね。

新日鉄も結構いい感じですが、去年秋、サブプライム問題発覚依頼、調整してますな。最近盛り返してますが、震源地のUSはなんともないのに、日本はモロかぶっててビミョーな感じです。まあ、別の事情があるのかどうか存じませんがね。
ただ、USスチールの時価総額約２兆円、新日鉄４兆円、と規模は違います。

United States Steel Corp. shares jumped more than 14% on Tuesday after the company reported its second-quarter profit more than doubled on prices pushed higher by surging global demand for its steel products.
第２Qの数字が良かったみたいですね。前年の２倍の利益。鉄鋼製品に対する世界需要が高まっている。
The Pittsburgh-based manufacturer reported that income from operations jumped to $954 million from $391 million, as quarterly sales reached $6.74 billion from the prior year's $4.23 billion.
うーん、こんなに伸びるとは。売上の伸びもスゴイんですけど・・・。

USスチールは原材料コスト面で、鉄鉱石を自分で処理できる点が優位。よくわかりませんが、川上まで入ってるってことですかな。
The company also supplies its own coke, which is produced from coal and, along with iron ore, makes up two of the three raw materials used in the steelmaking process.
コークってコーラのことじゃなくてコークスのことですね。自分で調達できる。どーゆーことかわかりませんが、まあ有利な点があるんですな。
Overall, the steel industry has benefited from worldwide demand and a steady appetite from some burgeoning construction markets. Chairman and CEO John Surma said he's looking for the strong results to continue in the coming months.
世界で需要が高まっていること、伸びてる建設マーケットがいくらかあって着実な需要があることに鉄鋼業界は恩恵をうけている。
それにしてもちょっと伸びすぎ、って感じですが、どうなってるんでしょうかね。ちょっとびっくりな発表でした。日本の鉄鋼メーカーも足元は調子良いんでしょうかね。
