ブルース・スプリングスティーンの曲を1曲ずつ和訳することに挑戦しています。僕なりの解釈ですがよろしかったら読んでください。
僕はこの「BACKSTREETS」をまだライブで聴いたことがない。ぜひ一度聴けたらと思っています。
「BACKSTREETS」は二人の友情の話だけれど友達を欲しながら別れてしまった。
そこには相手も悪いだろうが自分も悪い。ただ自分を離れて行ってしまった相手を責めている。自分が悪かったと思いながらも。
僕も友達を自分の至らない所で自分から離れてしまったこともある。それを許して欲しいとは言えないけれど。
そんな中でこれからも僕なりに友達を大切にして生きていきたい。そんな僕の目標の曲です。
そしてそういう僕がいつかライブでこの曲を聴く時に僕は何を感じるか。恐いけれど聴いてみたく思っています。

ブルース・スプリングスティーンの曲の歌詞を和訳しています。僕なりの解釈です。
ブルース・スプリングスティーン「NIGHT」　この曲はほとんどライブで演奏されませんが僕は好きな曲です。
9時から5時まで何とか働き、その後車に乗り夜に飛び出す。ブルース・スプリングスティーンの描くブルーカラー・ワーカーの姿に僕は共感します。
でもspringsteen on broadwayでブルースが話していたけれどブルースは20代の頃は車の運転免許証を持っていなかった。また工場などで9時5時の仕事もしたことがないと言っていました。僕は少しがっかりしたけれど、逆にブルースが作るイメージはそれなのにリアルだなと思います。

Tenth Avenue Freeze out　これはブルース・スプリングスティーンとBig Manことサックスプレイヤー、クラレンス・クレモンスの友情の歌と僕は受け取っている。
僕もブルースとクラレンスのような友情を作りたいなと思う。現実はなかなか難しいだろうけれど僕は信じてみたくなる。
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Bandはそんなあこがれる友情を体現しているのだと思います。
もうクラレンスは亡くなってしまったけれどブルースとのお互いの友情は永遠なのだと思う。

コロナウイルス拡散防止の為の外出自粛で僕は部屋にいる時間が増えたので何かしようと思い、僕はブルース・スプリングスティーンの歌をアルバムごとに和訳してみようと思っています。この壮大な計画が成功するか分かりませんが、僕のブルース・スプリングスティーンの追っかけ人生をかけて、そして僕の最終的な目的である知り合えた人たちとブルース・スプリングスティーンのライブを日本で観る。そのモチベーション作りになればと思います。今まで僕がこのブログで和訳した物だけでは足りないので公式なアルバムでの和訳も参考にさせてもらいながらこの計画を進めて行きます。みなさん気が向いた時に観に来てください。

Thunder Road,聴き初めの頃僕は涙をためてこの曲を聴いていた。こぶしを握り締めて。どんなにかさみしい僕を力づけてくれたことだろう。
僕は1985年ブルース・スプリングスティーン初来日公演にチケットを手に入れていたのに入院してしまい観に行かれなかった。でもついに僕は2009年Working on a Dream tour ボストン公演でこのThunder Roadをブルースと観客と一緒に歌った。涙が出て来た。うれしかった。いろいろな人のことを思い出した。そんな切なさも含んだ曲です。
その後Springsteen on Broadwayを観に行かせてもらい観た時にこのThunder Roadを歌う時にblank pageに書き込んでいく気持ちとブルースは話した。僕も何かそんなまっさらな気持ちに帰れた気持ちがしました。今までのいろいろな負の気持ちを一周させてスタートラインにまた立てたような気持ちになりました。
そんな特別な気持ちがする曲です。
