ブルース・スプリングスティーン Growin'Up を和訳しました

僕は１２月２３日のブルース・スプリングスティーン・オン・ブロードウェイを観に行く。
今まで自伝本「Born To Run」のブルース自身の朗読を聴いて来た。
いくらか聴き取れるようになった気もするけれど、公演で実際に聴き取れるかは行ってみないと分からない。
もしかしたらブルースの話していることが分からないかもしれない。

そこで僕は開き直ってアコースティックで演奏される曲をじっくり楽しめるように準備しようと思います。
そこで公演で演奏されている曲をもう一度歌詞を読み返して自分なりに和訳してみることにしました。
よろしかったら感想、修正のアドバイスをお願いします。

このサイトでは曲間の語りまで文字にしてくれていました。
読んでしまうと当日の楽しみが減ってしまうようにも思いましたが、
どれ位の英語で話しているのかなと思い読んだら、僕にも何とか分かる位の英語でした。
聴き取れるかはまた別ですが。
この語りも全曲読むか読まないでおくかは今考えているところです。

I had a jukebox graduate for first mate, she couldn't sail but she sure could sing

I broke all the rules, strafed my old high school, never once gave thought to landing
Hid in the clouded wrath of the crowd, when they said "come down" I threw up

[Spoken:] You're gonna preach me? Then preach me right. Alright. 'Cause there I was. It was the middle of the summer, I was stranded in my little town. There was nothing to do, it was one of those ninety-five degree, ninety per cent humidity months. All my friends hated, the town hated me, my family like me a little bit. So I knew I had to find something I could do, something I could become competent at. Now at that moment I was about fourteen, I only had one thing I was competent at. And how many things can you do for four hours? If I'd known, I would've sought medical assistance, like they tell you. Well I walked downtown, and in the Western Auto store, I saw this banged-up old guitar hanging next to the auto parts, for eighteen bucks. So I knew I was gonna have to do something I'd never done before: work. I went over to my aunt Dora's and my uncle Warren's and they gave me a job mowing the lawn, uncle Warren brought out the big shears, thought me how to trim the hedges. And then I painted a house across the street, and I tarred the roof in midsummer heat. And I got fifty cents an hour. But I was thrifty, and I saved that fifty cents. And when I had eighteen dollars, I quit the only honest work I would do in my entire life. And I went down to that Western Auto store and I got that guitar. And I brought it home. But the strings were like telephone wire. And I tried for weeks but I couldn't play it, my fingers were killing me. Then my cousin Frank he came in and said, "No, you have to tune it first." He taught me how to tune it, and I kept practicing, and I kept practicing, and I put on The Beatles records, and I practiced this thing, and I put on The Rolling Stones records, and I practiced this thing, and I practiced, and I practiced, and it sounded like shit, but, but I kept practicing, and I practiced, and I practiced, and I practiced, and practiced, ten thousand hours, much more than ten thousand hours, many more. I practiced until one day I picked and it went...

I took month-long vacations in the stratosphere, you know it's really hard to hold your breath
I swear I lost everything I ever loved or feared, I was the cosmic kid
My feet they finally took root in the earth, I got me a nice little place in the stars
I swear I found the key to the universe in the engine of an old parked car

かつて俺は真夜中に仮装舞踏会で引っ張り上げられて石のように固まって立っていた

海賊の旗は俺のマストから飛び、帆は端から端へとはためく
俺には一等航海士にジュークボックス卒業生がいる。彼女は操舵は出来ないけれど確かに歌うことか出来る
俺はB52爆撃機でブルースの爆撃をした。安全装置はセットされていたけれど
俺は全ての規則を破り、俺の古い高校を猛爆撃した。一度も着陸しようとなど考えなかったさ
人込みの怒りの雲に隠れて、あいつらが降りろと言ったら俺は舞い上がった。あー俺は成長しているのだ

俺は成層圏で１か月の長期休暇を取った。分かるだろ、息をするのも本当に大変な所だ
俺は誓う俺は今まで愛したものも恐れたものも全て失くした。俺は宇宙の子供だった
あいつらがとうとう俺の足を取り地上に引きずりこんだ。でも俺は星々の中にとても素敵な場所を見つけたのだ
俺は誓う、宇宙に行けるキーを見つけたのさ停めてある古い車のエンジンで
