「ヘイリー・ウエステンラ」については何度か書きましたが、3月11日にリリースされたニューアルバム“絆”は日本の歌カヴァーアルバム第２弾です。
タイトルの“絆”がしめすように、親との絆、愛、感謝などヘイリーの強いメッセージが込められています。
ヘイリーは前作以上に各楽曲に想いをこめ、「LOVE LOVE LOVE」、イギリスの曲「ママに捧げる詩」以外の曲をヘイリー自ら英語詞を書いています。
美智子皇后陛下が高校時代に書かれた「ねむの木の子守歌」は原詞の通り日本語で歌われています。（両陛下は10日に結婚50年を迎えられました。）

このアルバムの中で私が最も感激したのがママに捧げる詩（うた） (Mother of Mine)です。
この曲は1972年に大ヒットした曲で、ニューヨークに行く前によく聴いていました。
美しいメロディーと母に対する感謝の心を詠った詩は心を動かされます。
これを歌ったのはスコットランド出身のニール・リードという当時12歳の少年で、美しいボーイ・ソプラノが詞の内容にマッチしていました。
今回ヘイリーがこの曲を選んだのはアルバムのテーマ“絆に”ぴったりです。
