　年末にまたハリケーンのニュースを新聞で見かけた。30日だったかな？
　早速アメリカのニュースサイトなどで、情報を収集してみた。

  The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Friday morning that Tropical Storm Zeta has formed in the eastern Atlantic, WESH 2 News reported.
  This is the 27th named storm of the year.
  All 21 names in the alphabet were used, so forecasters had to turn to the Greek alphabet. This is the sixth named storm since they went to that list. Hurricane season officially ended on Nov. 30.

　東部大西洋で熱帯性の暴風雨ゼータが発生した。
　すでに21のアルファベットを用いた名前は使い切っているので、ギリシャアルファベットの6番目、Ζ（ゼータ）と名前をつけることになった。
　公式にはハリケーンシーズンは11月末日修了済み。

　シーズンは終わっても、観測は続いている。－当たり前だね。でも、なんで11月末なのかな。大きな被害が出るのはこの時期までのものが多かったとか、何か過去の経験から決まったことだろうとは思うけど。
