南国亜熱帯 沖縄の真夏の風物詩、「１万人のエイサーフェス
ティバル」が盛大に行われＮＨＫの国際放送でも紹介された。以
下、英文と日本語で紹介する。
●Eisa dance festival held in Okinawa
One of Japan's most heroic and powerful traditional dance
events took place in Naha, the capital of Japan's
southernmost prefecture of Okinawa, on Sunday. The event,
known as the Ten Thousand Eisa Dance Parade, is performed
in mid-summer throughout Okinawa. Local people dance to
the accompaniment of drums and three-stringed instruments
known as "sanshin." Eighty-four groups demonstrated their
dances in central Naha. In the first group to perform, 1,200
people beat small drums called "paranku" together. One
group, made up of 45 young people from elementary to
senior high schools in Naha, beat drums to the cheerful
music. A tourist from Hyogo Prefecture said he came to
Okinawa to see the event and that he was thrilled by the
well-synchronized dancing by young people and adults.
Another tourist from Osaka said the children in Okinawa
were as cheerful and lovely as those in her home town.
●Eisa祭り・フェスティバル沖縄で挙行！
日本の最も勇ましい伝統芸能の一つが沖縄で、日曜日に行われま
した。力強い伝統的な祭りイベントが那覇（日本の最南端の県、沖
縄県の中心地）で挙行されました。エイサー祭りは（Ten Thousand
Eisa Dance Paradeとして知られている）は、真夏の沖縄で盛大に
行われます。地元の人々に愛好されているパーランクーと太鼓、三
線（―弦楽器―付属物）に合わせて踊ります。 84のグループは、
中部・那覇の人々で構成された踊り手によって披露されました。祭
りの最初のグループは、1,200人で、「paranku」と呼ばれている小
さなドラムスを叩きながら行われた。 1つのグループ（那覇周辺の
高校生45人の若者で構成された）は、南国独特の陽気な音楽に合
わせてドラムスを叩いて披露した。兵庫県から来た観光客は、この
イベントを見るために沖縄に来た、と言う。そして、彼が若者と大人
によってよく調和のとれたエイサーダンスでわくわくしたと言いまし
た。大阪からのもう一人の観光客は、沖縄の子供たちが彼女の故
郷のそれらと同じくらい元気が良くてかわいいと言いました。
