３月に卒園をすると、５歳児の子どもたちはそれぞれの地域の小学校に通い始めます。KISには各学年１クラスしかないので、３～４年一緒に育ってきたお友だちとの別れはさみしいですね。でも、小学校に行くとたくさんの新しいお友だちが待っています。
お友だちに関する絵本はたくさんあるのですが、私が好きな本の１冊が傷んでしまって、買い替えの時期を迎えました。残念ながら新たに発行はされていないようで、アメリカで中古で手に入れるしか方法がないようです。"That's What Friends Do"という本で、「ぼくが森で迷った時には、君が見つけてくれたね」「もし君が寒くて暗いのが怖いんだったら、ぼくがそばにいてあげるよ。」というとても心が暖まる本なのです。そしてこの本を読んでいると、Bruno Marsの"Count on me"という歌を思い出します。心を許した友だちには、当てにされるとうれしいしものですよね。こんな心を許せる友だちをたくさん見つけてほしいと願っています。
