アンドリューがｖCJDと診断された日の記述から

Reeling, I explaned that Andrew hadn't eaten beef for years.  Dr M angrily replied: 'A stray burger didn't cause this.'  Winded I asked: 'Was it some other route like the vaccines Andrew had received?'  My questions were met with silence.  Beating back tears, my throat tightening. I asked Dr M: 'What can I do to make Andrew comfortable?' He replied slowly: 'All you can do is love him.'

動揺しながら、私はアンドリューがもう何年も牛肉を食べなかったと説明した。

医師は、怒りながら答えた「この疾患は、たまに食べたハンバーガーが原因ではありません」驚いて私は質問した「では、アンドリューが受けたワクチンなどの何か他のルートでしたか？」私の質問の答えは、無言であった。
