最近のトイレは、電動式のものが多い。
トイレ器具最大手の東陶機器では、ホームページ上に、停電時のトイレ使用についてのお知らせを載せた。

それによると、トイレには、停電時の対応によって、3タイプがある。
（1）1つは、便器洗浄のつまみがあるタイプだ。つまみを回せば便器を洗い流し、戻すと便器内に水が溜まるようになっている。
（2）もう1つがレバータイプで、レバーを引き戻しすれば、つまみタイプと同じように操作できる。
（3）最後の3つ目は、それ以外のタイプだ。断水時の洗浄と同じで、バケツに水をくみ、直接、便器内へ水を流す。ただし、配水管が詰まる可能性があるため、2、3回に1回はバケツ2杯分を流すようにする。
東陶の広報部では、「つまみ、レバーの位置が暗闇で分からなかったり、割れたりしていれば、（3）のバケツを流す方法を代わりに使えばいいです。水は勢いをつけて流すのがコツですね」
最近は、水道を電気でくみ上げるタイプがあり、その場合は、停電で水が出なくなる。そのときのために、浴槽などに水をためておくとよいという。
I logged into Facebook and saw an extremely helpful message about the scheduled blackouts and its effects on the trains in Tokyo.

Major out of services are: Tokaido Line (all day), Yokosuka Line (all day), Yokohama Line (all day), Odakyu will only operate between Kyodo to Shinjyuku (all day), Keio will only operate between Chofu and Shinjyuku (during morning and evening rush hours).
There is also a link to the areas that will have scheduled blackouts so please look for your area in case you need to prepare. Each area will receive about 3 hours of power outage. The link is provided below and is only in Japanese.
Edit: Some of the blackouts were canceled but it's good to be prepared anyway!

Due to the electric outage in Tokyo Metropolitan area, some lines are being operated with the special schedule. Please note that some trains including Narita Express will be cancelled and partly suspended. Hope to check the current train status before you take our trains.

-Depending on supply and demand conditions on the actual days, blackouts may occur at times which were not previously announced.
-Taking all measures to restore power, however, they expect extremely challenging situation in power supply for a while. They kindly ask their customers to cooperate with them in reducing usage of power.
