This summer

After the rainy season, the garden of my house is in the middle of the season when herbs grow thick. Basil is extremely energetic. Basil  grows the stems and leaves under the sunshine. Basil, native to the Middle East, India, is an herb that grows and blooms in the summer.

Basil leaves are easy to smell when dried, so it is recommended to soak them in oil and store them. Easy-to-use simple "Basil oil" and "Basil paste" can be enjoyed with a fresh scent all year round if frozen.
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. The thyme field at my house is fine without watering at all.

The west wind blows in Tokyo, and the temperature exceed 30 degrees Celsius from morning tomorrow. It's a murderous heat. This will continue until mid-August when the typhoon arrives. This summer must be long.

Natural Farming Permaculture Gardening for Lawn

One trend in agriculture these days is natural farming. Make the most of the diversity of soil microorganisms and surface plants to create sustainable fields with as little effort as possible.
The concept is also a challenge to the agricultural culture that human beings have learned for a long time.

On the other hand, the lawn in the garden is "non-cultivation" that takes time and effort such as water, fertilizer, and lawn mowing like hydroponics. Now, my garden is in the middle of a fight against weeds by natural farming (cutting farming). While cultivating the ground using grass weeds, the soil may be aggregated and fertilized. So far, I have been losing to weeds in a row.

Washington State resident gets notice there’s a noxious weed in her garden. She says it’s an herb

An immigrant from Russia, she grows herbs such as peas, lettuce, tomatoes, beets, sunflowers, coriander, basil, fennel and dill in her garden. She reportedly received a noxious weed notice from Pierce County Noxious Weed Control regarding a common fennel epidemic in the southwest corner of sidewalk planting beds.

The county considers dill to be a noxious weed because it forms a dense invasion, defeats native plants and reduces the habitat of native wildlife.

Washington law states that landowners need to control and prevent the spread of noxious weeds from their property.

She said that if she did not remove the plant, Pierce County Weed Control would remove it and charge her.

 Fennels (Umbelliferae) and Dill (Umbelliferae, Anethum) are the same herbs of the Umbelliferae family and look very similar. In addition, fennel and dill will cross if planted nearby. Fennel is a perennial, but dill is an annual. The plant height of fennel is as large as 1.5 to 2 m, but the dill is as small as 30 to 50 cm.

Like fennel, dill has a sweet scent and is used in fish dishes, salads and marinades.

Laurus nobilis (bay)

Bay (Laurus nobilis), also known as bay laurel or the bay tree, is an evergreen shrub with aromatic leaves, known as bay leaves. Laurus nobilis one of the oldest shrubs in cultivation.

It’s an essential foliage plant for herb gardens – bay leaves can be used in a variety of dishes, including soups and stews and even ice cream, and are the main ingredient in a ‘bouquet garni’.

The bay, which was in the garden until last year, was accompanied by scale insects and eventually gave up.
This year, I have researched for prevention.  So, ready for planting.

I took a peek at various gardening shops, but the seedlings were not sold. I wonder if it will be avoided because it will be a big tree.
After all, I ordered online. Expected to arrive next weekend. As the rainy season comes, we plan to grow it in pots for a while.

道の駅の店頭にたくさんパクチー。激安。。どうやら千葉の山奥（山は無いけど）・東金は隠れパクチーの里のようだ。
カレーやスープ、生春巻きなどにたっぷり入れて、東南アジア気分。
パクチー（コリアンダー）は、実は地中海が原産のハーブ。暑さに弱く、寒さには比較的強い。
なので、旬は4月から6月かな。
