On July 15, 1956, Mr. Harutomo Kanazawa became a fourth-term member of the village council of Tsunetoyo Village and a deputy mayor of the village.
At the age of 54, he became the mayor of Tsunetoyo Village, and at the age of 74, the mayor of Hanawa Town. It seems that he dealt with the great merger of
However, the tangle led to the recall movement in 1958 (there were many political opponents, too).
Fortunately, the recall was not enacted, but in the 1960 mayoral election of Hanawa Town, Higashishirakawa District, Fukushima Prefecture, I was defeated by Eisyo Kondo (my grandson is a classmate of Miyazaki), who stood as a rival candidate.
At that time, I had just become an elementary school student, and I have no memory of the mayoral election at that time, but I can assume that I was a local supporter of Mr. Eisyo Kondo. In other words, he was estranged from Haruto Kanazawa, and his father didn't seem to like him.
On July 14, 1960, Harutomo Kanazawa resigned as mayor, but in the next mayoral election (1964), he made a comeback at the age of 81. served. He also tried for re-election in the 1968 election, but was defeated by Taiho Suzuki, who had been a deputy mayor under Harutomo Kanazawa, and resigned.
As far as I read in his books, it is only written that he was amicable and his term of office expired, but even though there were many townspeople who opposed him, he had a strong interest in local politics. And Harutomo Kanazawa did not have a "declaration of defeat" in his career, and he lived as if he were destined to publish his 67th book (all self-published) until just before his death.
