Crows and Pitchers

2014年03月21日 | トーストマスターズ
This is a story from Aesop’s Fables.

A very thirsty crow came upon a pitcher in a town. But there was only a little water left in the pitcher so that he could not reach the water with his beak to drink.
He tried every idea came in his mind but failed in spite of his great effort. Even so, the crow did not give up to get the water. “ I should think and think. I never give up.
There should be something… Oh, here comes an idea!”
He collected as many pebbles as he could and dropped into the pitcher one by one with his beak. Then the water mounted up as he dropped a pebble, and at last, he was able to drink the water with his beak. He could quench his thirst and saved his life because he did not give up.
This story teaches us a lesson that no matter how hard it is, you will succeed if you keep on trying.

In my case as a runner, I am in the similar situation to this crow. I was very thirsty for breaking three hours in marathon. Whenever I came upon a pitcher of Marathon, there was only a little water of possibility left in the pitcher so that I could not reach the target with my beak of ability.
Even so, I still do not give up to get the water of the three-hour target. “ Practice and practice. Never give up. There should be something….”
Although I have not found a good idea yet, I expect my possibility mounts up as I drop a pebble of practice into the pitcher one by one.
I strongly believe that no matter how hard it is, I will succeed if I keep on trying.

You are also the similar situation to this crow. You are very thirsty for developing speech skills and fortunately have come upon a pitcher of Toastmaster. But you notice that there is not so much water of confidence in the pitcher so that you cannot reach it with your beak of skill.
You try every idea came in your mind but fail in spite of your great effort. Even so, as a competent communicator you do not give up to get the water of confidence. “ you should try and try. You never give up. There should be something… ”
You make as many speeches as you can and drop into the pitcher of Toastmaster one by one. The confidence mounts up as you make a speech, and at last, you will be able to reach to the highest recognition of Distinguished Toast Master. .
Fellow Toastmasters! No matter how hard it is, you will succeed if you keep on trying.
