「写真の本人解説」
本来なら海へ流すべきだと思います。ボクの生まれ故郷はそうでした。でも、札幌では無理です。市内の母なる川・豊平川は世界の100万都市としては珍しい急流河川なので灯籠流しには向きません。
ここは公園内の日本庭園の池です。人を弔う気持ちや平和を祈願するのに場所は問いませんーーと、ボクは思っています。

The person's commentary on the photograph.
I think that the lanterns should be thrown into the sea. That is how it was in my birthplace. But it is impossible in Sapporo. Toyohira River, the mother river of Sapporo, is not suitable for floating lanterns because it is a swift river, which is rare for a city of one million in the world.
This is the pond in the Japanese garden in the park. I believe that any place is suitable for mourning and praying for peace.
