たばこの気持ち

妻の手料理を食べ、私はソファーに寝ころびながら、妻の出勤を送り出しうたた寝をしました。

目覚めたら、点けっぱなしのテレビに半藤末利子が写っていました。

「あっ、そうか。名前からすると、昨年他界された反戦の猛者・半藤一利さんの奥様だな」と思い、私はテレビのチャンネルをそのままにしておきました。

そしたら、彼女は文豪・夏目漱石のお孫さんだったのです。テレビ朝日「徹子の部屋」です。

私はテレビ画面をスマホで撮る余裕もなく、番組を魅入りました。

私が、ここで書きたいことはたくさんあります。一つだけ、私が全く知らなかった猫の話を紹介させていただきます。

漱石は、元来、犬好きでした。しかし、家に出入りしていた、しつこい野良猫がいました。

縫い物をしていた鏡子さんは、その猫が寄ってくると、邪魔になるから、ものさしで叩いて追い払っていたそうです。

そこで、漱石は「そんなに家🏡が気に入っているなら飼えばいい」となり、野良猫は家猫になりました。

しかし、鏡子夫人は相変わらず猫を粗末に扱っていたそうです。ある日、鏡子夫人がマッサージ師から治療を受けていた時のことです。

寄ってきた猫を抱き上げ、上に下にと猫を眺めたマッサージ師は「この猫の爪はすべて真っ黒です。これほどの福猫はいませんよ。大切にしなさい」と言いました。

その後、欲深い鏡子さんは変貌し、食事を含めて猫の境遇を大改善したそうです。

私は、これなくして、漱石の「吾輩は猫である」は生まれなかった、と思ったらとても愉快になりました。

というわけで、私は半藤末利子さんの新刊を買ってきて、すぐにでも読みたいと思いました。

 "Oh, I see, from her name, she must be the wife of Kazutoshi Hando, a fierce anti-war activist who passed away last year.

Then I found out that she was the granddaughter of the great writer Soseki Natsume. It was TV Asahi's "Tetsuko's Room".

I was so fascinated by the program that I didn't even have time to take a picture of the TV screen with my smartphone.

There are many things I would like to write about here. 

One thing I would like to share with you is a story about a cat that I was totally unaware of.

Soseki was originally a dog lover. 

However, there was a persistent stray cat that used to come in and out of his house.

Mrs.Kyoko, who was sewing, used to beat the cat away with a ruler to get it out of the way when it came close to her.

So Soseki said, "If you like the house🏡 so much, you should keep it," and the stray cat became a house cat.

However, Mrs. Kyoko still treated the cat roughly. One day, when Mrs. Kyoko was being treated by a masseuse, she picked up a cat that came close to her.

The masseuse picked up a cat that had come close to her and looked it up and down. 

"There is no other cat as blessed as this one. Take good care of it," she said.

After that, the greedy Mrs.Kyoko was transformed and greatly improved the cat's condition, including its diet.

I was very amused to think that without her, Soseki's "I am a Cat" would not have been born.

So I bought mrs.Mariko Hando's new book and wanted to read it right away.
