Theater Company RINKOGUN has continued to collaborate on works with actors and actresses from the Philippines. From ”Southern Island”, after an interval of seven years, we are working on a new project..
Next year, we will perform “Summer House After Wedding”. It is a drama that expresses a daily life rearities of contemporary Fhilipinas living and working in Japan.
A filipina, who left her home with her child one day. She get to the shelter which used to be an old house. She looks back at her life in Japan. Her husband, the people whom she met at her workplace as care-giver, the children who are “Japanese-Fhilipino-Children”-
This is an attempt to show the Japanese society from the angle of Filipina living in Japan, and also to see a bit of Philippine society here.
Shimizu who is playwright and also works as a care-giver, was inspired to create this script by her encounter and interviews with immigrant women’s workers. She focuses on their emotional hardships, dreams, desires, and create drama full of sympathy and humor.
Are we, Japanese society, ready to accept the new foreign workers? How can we co-exist in harmony? This work will ask important questions.
