Chichibu Night Festival (Chichibu Yomatsuri)

City of Chichibu silk stands with festival in the Edo era and is said to have quenched economy of Chichibu very much, Chichibu Yomatsuri has a history of more than 2,000 years.  It is one of Japan's three greatest hikiyama (float) festivals, along with　the Gion Matsuri of Kyoto and the Takayama Matsuri.
Six floats decorated with gorgeously colored carvings bring brilliant splashes of color to winter-time Chichibu. The floats being drawn around to the sound of the traditional taiko drum piece, and the fireworks display that lights up the night sky are tremendously powerful, making the trip to this stunning natural location worth the effort.
