福島県東白川郡塙町出身の競輪選手・佐藤慎太郎さんのTシャツに書かれた言葉「限界！？気のせいだよ！」は、とても励みになりますね

The words "You're at your limit? You're just in your head!" written on the T-shirt of Shintaro Sato, a keirin racer from Hanawa-machi, Higashi-Shirakawa-gun, Fukushima Prefecture, are very encouraging.

僕が小さな頃

福島県東白川郡塙町

真夏のチリンコ

鉦の音が遠くから聞こえてくると

僕は5円玉を握りしめ

消防ポンプ小屋前にかけて行く

ポンポンアイスと棒アイスを積んだ風月の自転車がやって来る

そして、71歳になった少年返りしている僕は、今、毎日のようにガリガリ君を楽しみにしている

今日はコーラ味2本

ソーダ味もいい

僕は夏になるとアイスが好きだ

When I heard the sound of a gong in the distance

I would grab a five yen coin in front of the fire pump house.

A Fugetsu bicycle loaded with pompon ice cream and ice cream sticks comes along.

And now that I'm 71 years old and a boy again, I look forward to my daily bowl of skinny jeans.

Two cola-flavored ones today.

Soda flavor is also good

I like ice cream in the summer.

暑中お見舞い申し上げます〈英訳付〉

100均ショップ2軒、横浜市がん検診キット（尿と便）の受け取りなどで、暑い盛り1時間ほど歩きました

外の36°Cというのは、久しぶりに経験しましたが、頭皮からも汗が吹き出し、下着も汗で濡れていました

弱ったアブラゼミに、すずめが食らいつき戦っていました。すずめはセミを食べるのですね

I walked for about an hour in the middle of the hot weather, visiting two 100 yen shops and picking up a Yokohama City cancer screening kit (urine and feces). It had been a while since I had experienced 36°C outside, but my scalp was sweating and my underwear was wet with sweat. A sparrow was fighting a weakened brown cicada. Sparrows eat cicadas, don't they?

帰り道は遠かった〈英訳付〉

目白駅22時40分の電車に乗って、いつになったら横浜につくのかしら？

ちょっと不安だけれど、電車での寝落ちに気をつけて、なんとか今日中には着くことでしょう

横浜市営地下鉄の最終一本前に乗ることができ、0時ちょい過ぎ、自宅に着きました

I took the 10:40pm train from Mejiro Station, wondering when I'd arrive in Yokohama?

I was a little worried, but as long as I was careful not to fall asleep on the train, I'm sure I'd make it there by the end of the day.

I managed to catch the train just before the last one on the Yokohama Municipal Subway, and arrived home just after midnight.

目白のそばや「吉祥庵」にて〈英訳付〉

昨日、私たち福島県東白川郡塙町・矢祭町出身で棚倉高校卒業6人のちょい飲みは、目白駅徒歩3分、老舗蕎麦屋「吉祥庵」で、生ビールと日本酒を飲みながら、美味しいおつまみともりそばをいただきました

Yesterday, we, six of us from Hanawa-machi and Yamatsuri-machi in Higashi-Shirakawa-gun, Fukushima Prefecture, graduates of Tanagura High School, went for a quick drink at Kisshoan, a long-established soba restaurant just a three-minute walk from Mejiro Station. We enjoyed some delicious snacks and soba noodles while drinking draft beer and sake.

ploom xお買い得キャンペーン〈英訳付〉

先日、桜木町駅前コレット・マレの喫煙所に入ったら、ploom xのキャンペーンをしていました

ちょうど2台目が欲しかったので、キャンペーン価格（1980円➡︎980円）プラスメビウス・ディープレギュラー（500円のサンプル品）、実質480円で購入できました

JTの代理店スタッフのセールストークをお聴きし、たくさんの学びがありました

The other day, I walked into the smoking area of Colette Mare in front of Sakuragi-cho Station and saw a campaign for the ploom x!

I just wanted a second one, so I was able to purchase one for the campaign price (1980 yen➡︎980 yen) plus M EVIUS Deep Regular (a 500 yen sample), for 480 yen in effect!

I listened to the sales talk of JT's distributor staff and learned a lot!

今月は病院通いの日々〈英訳付〉

今月、私は病院通いが続いています

内科、皮膚科に加え眼科（緑内障）、歯科（前歯の虫歯治療）です

さらに、2年半以来の横浜市がん検診を月末に予約しました

現役時代は、定期検診（半日ドッグ）の時期がくると、総務部スタッフが手続きをしてくれ、自分は尿と便を採取し、病院に行くだけでした（自己負担ゼロ）

リタイアしてからは、予約から検便キットの受け取りにはじまり、料金の支払いまで、すべて自分で行うことになります

自己管理の領域ですから、決めた時期に、年に一度、きちんと健康診断を受ける必要があります

しかし、高齢化に伴い時の流れが速く、同時に何かと億劫になりますので、私も前回の横浜市がん検診から2年半が経ってしまいました

高齢者になって、病院通いが増えている現実を再認識させられました

This month, I have been going to the hospital.

In addition to internal medicine and dermatology, I also go to the ophthalmologist (glaucoma) and dentist (cavity treatment for my front teeth).

Furthermore, I have booked a Yokohama City cancer screening at the end of the month, which is the first time in two and a half years.

When I was still working, when it was time for a regular checkup (half-day dog), the general affairs staff would take care of the paperwork, and I would just take my urine and stool samples and go to the hospital (no out-of-pocket expenses).

Since I retired, I have to do everything myself, from making the reservation to receiving the stool test kit and paying the fees.

Since it is an area of self-management, I need to have a proper health check once a year at a set time.

However, as I get older, time passes quickly and at the same time, it becomes more of a hassle, so it has been two and a half years since my last Yokohama City cancer screening.

As I have become older, I have been reminded of the reality that I am going to the hospital more and more.

定番の崎陽軒シュウマイ御弁当〈英訳付〉

本日のランチは、崎陽軒のシュウマイ御弁当でした

安定の美味しさ

御弁当の蓋は、上辺に硫黄（着火剤）を塗ると付け木になるタイプですね

Today's lunch was a shumai bento from Kiyoken. It was consistently delicious. The lid of the bento can be used as a tinder if you apply sulfur (fire starter) to the top edge.

ベランダとバルコニー〈英訳付〉

窓を開けて外に出る

今の今まで、そこはベランダだと思っていました

しかし、テレビを見ていたら、屋根のあるのがベランダだと、初めて知りました

わが家のタイプは、屋根がないのでバルコニーだそうです

とは言っても、バルコニーと呼んだり、書くのには余りにも狭いので、自分としては違和感があるのです

I open the window and step outside.

Until just now, I thought that was a balcony.

But when I was watching TV, I learned for the first time that a roof is a balcony!

My type of house does not have a roof, so it is a balcony.

However, it is too small to be called or written as a balcony, so I feel uncomfortable about it.

広島県因島のはっさくゼリー〈英訳付〉

広島県因島のはっさくゼリーは、甘すぎず少し苦味があって、清涼感に満ちていました

一緒に買った「瀬戸内のはっさくチューハイ」は、夕飯の晩酌で美味しくいただきました

The hassaku jelly from Innoshima, Hiroshima Prefecture was not too sweet, a little bitter and full of coolness!

The "Setouchi Hassaku Chuhai" we bought together was delicious with our supper!
