「低温科学」第70巻『雪氷の生態学』を刊行。23編の論文が掲載されています。
執筆者の皆様、そして、編集幹事の新潟大学福原晴夫先生、国立環境研究所の野原精一先生に感謝いたします。
本日、北海道大学卒業式。3月にしては、寒い日が続いていたが、さすがに春の気配を感じさせる寒さのゆるみ。
札幌の地を離れ、新たな土地で新たな道を歩まれる方も多いであろう。巣立つ若者達は、満足のいく学究生活を送ることができたであろうか?
ふと、ヴィクトリア朝時代のイギリス人詩人アルフレッド・テニソンのこんな格言を思い出す。
「知識はすぐに得られるが、知恵を得るには時間がかかるもの」
アメリカの実業家アンドリュー・カーネギーはこうも言う。
「年を取るにつれ、人が言うことにはさほど注意を払わなくなった。ただ、人の行動を見ることにしている」
実社会における己の振舞いを律することとして、フランスの喜劇作家モリエールは、喜劇『人間嫌い』で。
「他人を非難する前に、よく自分のことを思い返してみなさい」
遠方よりの来客。彼らとの長い年月での出来事を振り返る。感謝を込めて、「卯和」にて宴を催す。
手前の肴を食すと、桜色のウサギが現れる。料理人の「おもてなしのこころ」が伝わる。食してもなお、山芋のサクッとした感とともに長い年月への労りも。
3月。別れの季節。新天地でのご活躍に期待を込めて。
