I am embarrassed with sudden breakdown of my computer machine --- TOSHIBA Libretto L5/080 TNLN, which I bought some five years ago ---. I really loved it. I suppose CPU was fatally damaged. I have it not for daily use in my research site (no electricity), but for full use in town for data filing. Japanese word processor is helpful for university job and making this blog story. This is not the first time I have trouble in computer machine during fieldwork. When I did long-term research in a shifting cultivator of Indonesian Borneo about a decade ago, my dos V machine --- IBM Think Pad 550 (old but compact and lovely) --- suddenly stopped working. I had it for daily use with electric generator brought into my field. Shortly I decided to send it back to IBM service center in Tokyo to ask for repair. I remember it totally cost some 200,000 yen! until I could use it again in the field. I think I had better purchase a new computer this time.
