平和フェローの感動的帰国の挨拶

6月3日のブログで「ロータリー財団がICUと共同で実施している平和実現をテーマに研究している平和フェローが2年間の研修生が修士課程を収め巣立った」ことを掲載した。私がカウンセラーをしてきたバングラデッシュからのMさんが先日帰国の挨拶をと昭島ロータリークラブの定例会に来られた。その時の短い挨拶が感動的で、これからの日本の国際貢献を示唆する内容だった。

Mさんのサヨナラ挨拶(要旨）
私のロータリー平和フェローシップは終了しますが、私たちの絆は続き、皆様は私の家族です。昭島ロータリーとロータリー・インターナショナルとの私の絆は一生ものです。したがって、私はどこにいても皆様と連絡を取りたいと思っています。今日、私が皆様にさよならを言うのはかなり重い瞬間です。しかし、私達の人生の流れの中で、私はそうする必要があります。

ICU（国際基督教大学）でのフェローシップの間、心のこもったサポートに感謝したいと言います。 昭島ロータリー、ロータリー財団日本、ロータリー国際財団による、ICUロータリー平和センターへの献身的な貢献により、私たちは学ぶだけでなく、日本の文化や伝統を体験することができました。

私は徒手空拳で来日しました。しかし今、この手には多くのモノをいっぱい持って帰ります。それは 知識であり、知恵であり、そして忘れられない日本の思い出です。私が日本から学んだ最も重要な教訓は、人々を愛し、互いに支え合い、他人を尊敬し、尊厳をもって人間を扱うことです。これらはすべて文化、民族、宗教、思想にかかわらず世界の平和と発展に不可欠です。

私は皆様の寛大さと、私を含むすべての平和フェローへの大きな支援に心より感謝しています。昭島ロータリークラブバンザイ、国際ロータリークラブ、ロータリー日本財団バンザイ。
平和が皆様にありますように！

Thanks Giving Speech at Farewell Party

Respected President, RC Akishima- Suzuki sama, Club members, Fellows and distinguished guests,
Good Evening!
First of all, thank you for inviting me to attend this farewell party, specially my host counselor Ajima sama for asking me to join you. I am highly honored to be here amongst active Rotarians like you, working to bring positive changes, make difference for a better world.

My rotary peace fellowship is over but not our communication! You are my family. The bond I have with you, RC Akishima and Rotary International is for life long. Therefore, I would love to stay in contact with you wherever I be. Today this is quite heavy moment for me to say you good bye. But I have to do so, as this is how our life goes.

Before saying that I would like to thank you all for your cordial support during my fellowship at ICU. Thanks to RC Akishima, Rotary Foundation Japan and Rotary Internatioanal for your enormous contribution for ICU Rotary Peace Center that allowed us to have this unique opportunity of not only for learning but also experienicng Japanese culture and tradition.

I came with empty hand and now leaving you with full of it – with knowldedge, wisdom and unforgettable memories of Japan. The most important lesson I have learned from Japan is to love people, support each other, respect others and treat human with dignity – all these are highly essential for world peace and developlment regardless of culture, ethnicity, religion, identity beyond borders.
I am thankful to you for your generosity and enormous support for all fellows including me. Long live RC Akishima, long live Rotary International, Rotary Foundation Japan.
