英語で毎日ニュースを膨大に読んで聞くことが大事だ。
ただ、ひとつ言いたいのは、「自分が読めているか聞けているか確認できないまま、自己満足的につづけることは効果的でない」というだ。
わたしの場合は、まだ英語は（40年以上学習しているにもかかわらず）学習中なので、Asahi Weeklyのような懇切丁寧な注を付けてくれている学習紙が大変ありがたい。同紙を毎週隅々まで読んでいる。
英文精読も翻訳と同じで、「理論ではなく、実践」だ。よって、実際に大量に読むことをしなければ、向上は望めない。
