次のような使い方もする。

"She took a covert look to see if anyone was watching."
「だれかが監視しているかどうかこっそりと見た」

反意語はovert（公然と）.
★Extra Extra Example
"There have been attempts, sometimes overt, sometimes covert, to bring down the present regime."
「これまで時には公然と、時にはひそかに現政権打倒の工作が行なわれた」
inflammatoryは「怒り［[敵意、激情など]をかきたてる、感情を刺激する、激昂させる、 煽動的な（演説など）］。

「炎症性の」の意味でも使われる。

「優柔不断」は英語で何と言うか？ indecisiveを使うといいと思う。

「首相は何事にも慎重であるが、裏返して言えば, 決断力がないということだ」

「タケは優柔不断だ。靴一足を買うのを決めるのに何時間もかかる」
impressedは「（…に）感動して、感銘を受けて」の意味で受身形で使われる。いくつか注意したことがあるので、今日のGetUpEnglishはこの表現を学習しよう。

「こんなことを言うのは申し訳ないですが、でも彼の能力はその仕事に不相応だと思います」

「足りない、少ない」の意味でも使われる。
