Just back from 1st Morning Ride in Silicon Valley.
After all, there are more similarities than differences.
The Bike shop, Concept Cyclery took care of me today. And boy it was a great shop. Nice to first timers, and the owner and staff made me feel at home, where I can bide my time and do some silly talks.
Distance: 70 km
Just can’t resist taking pictures.
Meet up in front of the shop at 8.
Right from the gun there is a small knoll to negotiate.
We started the climb in a bunch, but some guy just couldn’t contain himself and the bunch was stretched.
Climbed with the owner, Chris, but we were kind of not sure whether to go full-gas. We passed the KOM point together.
Wait for the others to come up.
Somewhere midway after a flying downhill, there appeared a long, darn straight road in front of us. Flying at 50 km/h!
However, Chris stopped us. We stop here today and back.
The route is soooo picturesque, beautiful, shining, … paradise. To put a little mustard on the peloton, I strongly recommended to Jane that they gotta have KOM and intermediate sprint points in the morning ride route. Jane agreed to such a silly advise. Thanks …
Biggest KOM point was right after the turning point. It was longest & steepest.
It started slowly, but as always I couldn’t contain myself. After I put a little distance to them, I derailed the chain when shifting to smaller ring. Bummer. I remounted and chased Chris after fixing the chain, but the gap gets smaller only so slowly. What’s worse I made a false move, as I miscalculated the last corner before the top. There was another corner. Though I somehow kept the lead, right before the KOM point a tire noise was approaching. I barely grabbed the KOM after changing to the larger ring. Yyyyyeeeessssss!
To tell the truth, I used up my legs here. No KOMs later today.
George said he was going to do some TT event back in San Jose.
Excuse me for bare legs. Just wanted to tell you today it was this warm.
Then suddenly the owner said he would speed home as he had to make the store opening hour. He virtually abandoned the rest and broke clear! Such an autonomous society, the U.S. …
So me and Chris started to work together from this point. Most Americans are well built and have more muscles. So they cruise so fast on the flat. He started to pull at 40 km pull almost effortlessly! Yahoooo! Time to bruise and cruise and burn up the flat!
We have seen many cyclists today …Check out what’s in the background! Rape blossoms are in full bloom! Spring is just around the corner.
On the way back I just spotted a dream-come-true home for all climb addicts! A house on the summit! Everyday hill climb is guaranteed.
It seems universal that we love the chit chat after the morning ride at the store.
We are both kinda surprised to come across another Lemond bike.
So, naturally we posed for the picture!
The ride ended as I purchased the pictured toy. Hohoho …

Without grasping these units sometimes it is difficult to comminute with other cyclist. However, as much as a terrible calculator as I am, my brain cells stop working whenever I hear them …So I just have a comparative list below for forget-me-nots! Genius!
30 kmマッタリモード = going easy at 20 miles
35 km 巡航 = cruising at 22 miles
40 km鬼牽き = bruising at 25 miles
1ヤビツ 780 m = 1 Yabitu Pass 2600 feet
1大弛峠 2360 m = 1 Odarumi Pass 7700 feet
