This song is a folk song of Ushibuka-machi,Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture. It is sung from the Edo era as the opening performance of Ushibuka-haiyabushi. Ushibuka-haiyabushi is the folk song well known all over Japan, are said to be the roots of many other regional folk songs. Sansagari means lowering one scale of the third bowstring of a samisen. In other words, it is a tuning of a samisen. This performance method becomes a stylish tone. The motif of the lyrics is the love affair that happened in old days, but there is hardly the meaning.
