FOR THERE TO BE

　英語学習誌『CNN ENGLISH EXPRESS』も30年近く購読している。2022年4月号の特集「良難問30」は大変勉強になった。

　森田鉄也さんが出題している以下の問題は、確かに良難問だ。

『コンパスローズ英和辞典』には、以下の説明がある。

 [for+名詞･代名詞+to 不定詞 の形で]

　語法 存在を表わす there は主語のように感じられるので, 次のような構文もある.

　It is possible for there to be a compromise between them. 彼らの間に妥協が生じる可能性はある.

　このfor there to beを使った構文をいくつか紹介する。
