FRONT

 frontは「前」であるが、さまざま意味で使われ、「顔（つき）、態度」の意味で用いられる。

この場合、 普通は単数形で形容詞を伴って使われる。次のような言い方で使われる。

　flingには、「試し、試み」という意味があり、have [take] a fling at…で、「…を試みる、企てる」。

 　"I was just going to have a fling at editing books and then move on to　teaching at a university or translator, but I ended up spending more than 25 years at it."

　"You have a talent as an editor, Mr. K."

 動詞flingは、「投げる、投げ飛ばす」。名詞でも、そして自動詞としても他動詞としても使われる。

　動詞fretは「じれる、やきもき［いらいら］する、気をもむ、悩む」。
