　dentは「（固いものに当たったり、打ったりしてできる）くぼみ、へこみ」のこと。　

　to make a dent in…で、「・・・・・・をくぼませる」「・・・・・・を減少させる」。

　I am happy to say that the GetUp English website is viewed by 700 to 1,000 people a day by people in Japan and from around the world. Since the recent earthquake and tsunami, many people from around the world have expressed concern about the disaster victims. May people in the stricken areas want direct information from in the stricken areas, but currently telephone service is not reliable, so it is hard for these people to get the information they need.

　Therefore, GetUpEnglish is making a temporary comment box that people overseas can use to send messages to their friends and family in Japan,and vice versa.

　In the wake of the earthquake, many people haven't been able to contact their loved ones, GetUpEnglish is offering this opportunity to do so by clicking on the comment box, and creating and uploading their messages. These messages will be uploaded immediately, as soon as they are approved.

　If necessary, GetUpEnglish may also be able to provide Japanese-English translation so please let me know if this would be of value for you.
