【従来の技術】室内機と室外機とから構成されるセパレート型の空気調和機は、比較的簡単な工事で冷風・温風が得られ、１台ごとの単独運転が可能なので広く普及している。また、このような空気調和機には、１台の室外機に複数の室内機を接続し、１台の室外機によって複数の部屋を暖房または冷房するものがあり、マルチタイプの空気調和機といわれている。

  一方、近年の省エネルギーの要請により、例えば、特許文献１（特開２００４―８５０８７号公報）に示すように、空調機の電力消費量を推定して電力消費量の診断を行う装置が提案されている。マルチタイプの空調機では、シングルタイプの空調機に比べ電力消費量も増加するため、電力消費量を推定して何らかの対策を講じることにより、省エネルギー効果を得ることが期待される。

冷凍空調装置の施工あるいはリプレースの完了後、ステップＳ１で、冷凍空調装置の試運転を行う。ここでは、制御部１０３が外気温度、室温または空調負荷に応じて、冷房もしくは暖房の運転を判断し室内機および室外機の各機器に制御信号を送信し、試運転モードで冷凍空調装置を起動し、運転を制御する。この判断は、予め決められた判断基準により自動で実施しても、冷凍空調装置を操作する作業者が手動で実施してもどちらでもよい。ただし、室内機が複数存在するマルチタイプの冷凍空調装置では、停止した室内熱交換器内部の状態が液封状態になったり、ガスの状態になったりすることで冷媒の判定時に液溜め２８に溜まる液冷媒の量が変化するため、室内熱交換器内部の状態を一定にする観点から、複数の室内機（室内熱交換器）は全数運転させる。
