US20140022177
FIG. 5 depicts an example implementation 500 of a backlight mechanism as including a light guide 406 of FIG. 4 and a light source. As previously described, the light guide 406 may be configured(構成(物理的))in a variety of ways to support transmission of light that is to act as a backlight for the input device 102. For example, the light guide 406 may be configured(構成(物理的))from a clear plastic or other material that supports transmission of light from a light source 502, which may be implemented using one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs). The light guide 406 is positioned to receive the emitted light from the light source 502 through a side(側、面、側面)of the light guide 406 and emit the light through one or more other sides and/or surface regions of the light guide 406.

US6636936
The configuration(構成)circuit in FIG. 2 shows two Altera PLD devices EPF81188 being configured from(構成、成る)a parallel EPROM. There may be up to eight passively configured(構成(論理的))PLD devices in the configuration circuit utilizing a 256K byte-wide EPROM. The first 32K bytes store the active parallel up (APU) data for the actively configured device, i.e., PLD 200. The next 192K bytes contain the bit-slice configuration data for the passively. configured PLD devices. Depending on the EPROMs chosen, PLD devices of different sizes may be accommodated.

Because the nCONFIG signal of PLD 220 is coupled to the CFG_STRT signal of PLD 200, PLD 220 does not start to configure until PLD 200 is fully configured and asserts its CFG_STRT signal. In one embodiment, configuration proceeds automatically at a minimum of 2 MHz (bit-rate). On each PLD, the nSTATUS pin is pulled up to VCC via a pull-up resistor.

The activities presented by user interface 200 and available to the user of child device 134 are configurable and customizable. However, such configuration and customization does not take place at the child device 134. Rather, parent device 132 may be configured to remotely configure(構成(論理的))and customize the specific activities available at child device 134. Moreover, the user of parent device 132 may have alternate interfaces available to configure and customize child device 134, such as a Web interface accessible via any device that accesses the Internet. Specifically, child device configurations settings are specified by the user of parent device 132 and then communicated to child device 134. The configuration settings indicate the activities that are to be made available on the graphical user interface 200 and menu 202 of the child device 134. The child device 134 receives the configuration settings and applies them automatically and without participation of the user of child device 134. This allows the user of parent device 132 to both limit the activities available to the user of child device 134 and to introduce the user to new activities. The user of parent device 132 can change the configuration settings at any time, upon which they are recommunicated to the child device 134 and implemented there to change the activities indicated by the menu 202.

When in its collapsed configuration(構成(物理的))(FIG. 4a), the device 10 has a reduced diameter, so that its cross-sectional profile is less than the outer diameter of the device 10 in the expanded state. The struts 14 are generally straight and the bag 22 is distal to the distal end 18 of the basket 12. The filter bag 22 may include a set of radial spokes 33 embedded in the bag to prevent the bag from flopping around when it is disengaged from the basket 12. Moreover, the spokes 33 may be pre-set so that the filter bag 22 self-collapses about the core wire 20 when the bag 22 is disengaged from the basket 12.

The hub 4 may take any of the conventional forms of hub structure suitable for placement in a winding machine to have the magnetic strip, ribbon or tape material wound thereon and is configured(構成、形), as shall be seen below, to have a central aperture therethrough to accept the central structure of the spider to be employed herein. It should be noted, however, that under these circumstances the central hub of the spider will be similarly apertured so that the same accepts the shaft of the motor in which the rotor being formed is to be mounted. Alternatively, the hub 4 could be configured(構成、形)to be mounted upon the motor shaft per se and under these circumstances would cooperate with the spokes of the spider, as shall be seen below, to form an integral central hub portion thereof. Thus, the hub 4 would typically be configured of(構成、成る)copper, aluminum or the like which may be suitably machined into appropriate form. However, as the principal function of the hub is to merely have a roll of magnetic material disposed thereon, other materials are readily available therefor including magnetic or non-magnetic materials, as well as various forms of plastic or graphite materials and the like.

Battery control system for hybrid vehicle and method for controlling a hybrid vehicle battery

2016-01-21 18:45:43 | 米国特許散策

US7489101 (Eaton Corporation)

Abstract
A battery control system for hybrid vehicle includes a hybrid powertrain battery, a vehicle accessory(付属品、装備)battery, and a prime mover(原動機)driven generator adapted to(構成、適合)charge the vehicle accessory battery. A detecting arrangement is configured to(構成)monitor the vehicle accessory battery's state of charge. A controller is configured to activate the prime mover to drive the generator and recharge the vehicle accessory battery in response to the vehicle accessory battery's state of charge falling below(分詞)a first predetermined(所定)level, or transfer electrical power from the hybrid powertrain battery to the vehicle accessory battery in response to the vehicle accessory battery's state of charge falling below a second predetermined level. The invention further includes a method for controlling a hybrid vehicle powertrain system.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to hybrid motor vehicles and, more particularly, to a battery control system for controlling the state of charge of a hybrid vehicle battery.

2. Background of the Invention

Motor vehicle manufacturers are actively working to develop(開発、努力、日夜、積み重ね) alternative powertrain systems in an effort to(するため、目指し)reduce the level of pollutants exhausted into the air(空気中に排出される)by conventional powertrains equipped with internal combustion engines. Significant development efforts(開発の努力)have been directed to electric and fuel-cell vehicles. Unfortunately, these alternative powertrain systems suffer from several disadvantages(欠点)and, for all practical purposes(実際、実用上), are still under development(開発途上). However, "hybrid" vehicles, which are equipped with an internal combustion engine and an electric traction(走行用)motor that can be operated independently or in combination with the internal combustion engine to provide motive power(原動力)for the vehicle, offer a compromise between traditional internal combustion engine powered vehicles and full electric powered vehicles.

A hybrid vehicle is typically equipped with a relatively high voltage hybrid powertrain battery, for example a 340 V battery, which provides electrical power(電力)to the electric traction motor. Many hybrid vehicles are also equipped with a lower voltage battery, for example a 12 V battery, which provides power to various vehicle accessories, such as the vehicle radio, lights and other electrically operated equipment not powered by the hybrid powertrain battery. The charge level(充電状態)of the vehicle batteries is monitored(検出、監視、把握)according to an index known as the battery State of Charge, or SOC. The SOC is defined by a ratio of the amount of residual charge(残量)remaining in a battery relative to its full charge capacity. Presently(現在), a battery's SOC may be measured using a combination of a measurement method utilizing a correlation between SOC and a battery's voltage-current characteristics at the time of(時)charging (or discharging) and a measurement method utilizing an accumulation of charged and discharged amounts.

In many hybrid vehicles, a battery control system controls charging (and discharging) of a battery based on the SOC. A limitation(欠点)of many hybrid battery control systems is that they fail to(できない)manage the lower voltage battery's charge level as(する時、しつつ、しながら)it supplies power to the vehicle accessories, particularly when the internal combustion engine is turned off. Failure to manage the lower voltage battery may result in the battery becoming depleted(消耗、劣化). Accordingly, a need exists for(必要)an improved battery control system for a hybrid vehicle that monitors and controls a charged state of the lower voltage vehicle accessory battery to prevent the battery from becoming depleted.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to thermal sensing, and more specifically to methods and apparatus for a programmable thermal sensor in an integrated circuit.

ART BACKGROUND

Advances(進歩)in silicon process technology has lead to the development of increasingly larger(増々、ますます)die sizes for integrated circuits. The large dies sizes permit integration of millions of transistors on a single die. As(につれて)die sizes for integrated circuits become larger, the integrated circuits consume(消費)more power. In addition, advances in microprocessor computing require execution(実行)of a large number of instructions per second. To execute more instructions per second, the microprocessor circuits operate at an increased clock frequency. Therefore, a microprocessor containing over one million transistors may consume over 30 watts of power. With large amounts of power being dissipated, cooling becomes a problem(問題、課題となる).

Typically, integrated circuits and printed circuit boards are cooled by either active or passive cooling devices. A passive cooling device, such as a heat sink mounted onto(取付)an integrated circuit, has a limited capacity to dissipate heat(放熱). An active cooling device, such as a fan, is used to dissipate larger amounts of heat. Although a fan cooling system dissipates heat, there are several disadvantages associated with(関連する欠点、不利)such a system. Traditionally, fans cool integrated circuits by air convection circulated by a fan. However, when a fan is used in conjunction with(連携、共に、連動)a high density multi-chip computer system, a large volume of air is required for cooling thereby necessitating powerful blowers and large ducts. The powerful blowers and large ducts implemented(実装)in the computer occupy precious space and are too noisy. The removal of a cover or other casing may result in a disturbance of air flow causing the fan cooling system to fail. In addition, the fan cooling system is made up of(から成る、構成される)mechanical parts that have a mean time between failure (MTBF) specification(規格)less than a typical integrated circuit. Furthermore, fan cooling systems introduce noise and vibration into the system.

In addition to cooling systems, thermal sensors are implemented to track(把握)the temperature of an integrated circuit or electronic system. Typically, thermal sensors consist of(から成る)a thermocouple which is directly attached to a heat sink. In more sophisticated thermal sensing systems, a diode and external analog circuitry are used. In operation(動作時), the voltage/current characteristics of the diode change(変化する)depending upon the temperature of the integrated circuit, and the external analog circuitry measures the voltage or current characteristics of the diode. The additional analog circuitry is complex and difficult to implement. In addition, employing the analog circuitry results in a thermal time delay degrading(低下、悪化)the accuracy of such a configuration(構成). Moreover(更に、さらに), external analog circuitry for sensing the voltage of the diode consumes a larger area than the integrated circuit being sensed(検知の対象). Therefore, it is desirable to(望ましい) provide a thermal sensor which is incorporated into the integrated circuit. In addition(更に、さらに), it is desirable to provide a thermal sensor that can provide feedback for an active cooling system. Furthermore(更に、さらに), it is desirable to control the temperature of an integrated circuit without the use of a fan. The present invention provides an integrated thermal sensor that detects a threshold temperature so that active cooling of the integrated circuit is accomplished through system control.

Further, the manipulations performed are often referred to in terms(用語), such as adding or comparing, which are commonly associated with mental operations performed by a human operator. No such capability of a human operator is necessary, or desirable in most cases, in any of the operations described herein which form part of the present invention; the operations are machine operations. Useful machines for performing the operations of the present invention include general purpose(汎用)digital computers or other similar devices. In all cases there should be borne in mind the distinction between the method operations in operating a computer and the method of computation itself. The present invention relates to method steps for operating a computer in processing electrical or other (e.g., mechanical, chemical) physical signals to generate other desired physical signals.

The present invention also relates to apparatus for performing these operations. This apparatus may be specially constructed for the required purposes or it may comprise(から成る、有する)a general purpose computer as selectively activated or reconfigured(選択的に動作、再構成)by a computer program stored in the computer. The algorithms presented herein are not inherently(本質的に)related to a particular computer or other apparatus(*特定の装置に関連しない). In particular, various general purpose machines may be used with programs written in accordance with the teachings(教示)herein, or it may prove more convenient to(有益である場合がある)construct more specialized apparatus(専用の装置を構築)to perform the required method steps. The required structure for a variety of these machines will appear from the description given below. Machines which may perform the functions of the present invention include those manufactured by Intel Corporation, as well as other manufacturers of computer systems.

Method for creating computer-aided design (CAD) solid models

2016-01-12 18:03:25 | 米国特許散策
US6606528 The Boeing Company
要約書
A method of generating a computer-based three-dimensional representation of an object resulting from cutting tool operations that remove portions of material from an initial tool solid(固体?)is disclosed.

A method of ... is disclosed(開示).

Using data containing dimensions of the cutting tool and data concerning the tool paths (e.g., points defining the tool paths), the method involves creating a model of the initial tool solid, creating a model of the tool solid removed along each tool path, and subtracting each tool solid model removed from the initial tool solid model. The data concerning the tool paths can be derived from numerically controlled (NC) machine fabrication instructions.

クレーム
1. A method of generating a computer-based three-dimensional representation of an object from data containing dimensions of a cutting tool and a plurality of(複数の)points defining one or more tool paths of that(その、前記)cutting tool, the object resulting from the operation of the cutting tool along the tool paths within an initial tool solid, which operation(関係代名詞による修飾)results in removal of one or more tool path solids from the initial tool solid, the method comprising the steps of: creating a mathematical model of the initial tool solid from data containing dimensions of a cutting tool(既述だが不定冠詞)and a plurality of points(既述だが不定冠詞)defining one or more tool paths such that the initial tool solid model encompasses the tool paths; creating a mathematical model of the tool path solid removed along each tool path by defining a modeling tolerance and representing the tool path as the mathematical model if the difference between the points defining the tool path and the points of the mathematical model is less than or equal to(以下)the modeling tolerance; and subtracting each tool path solid model from the initial tool solid model;

thereby producing the computer-based three-dimensional representation of the object.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of creating the model of at least one of the tool path solids comprises representing the tool path as one or more geometric figures, thereby creating a representation of the tool path.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein the geometric figures are selected from the group comprising(から成る群)straight line segments, arcs, spline curves, and planar segments.

明細書
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to computer-aided design (CAD) processes(複数)and, more particularly(より詳細には), to a method for creating a three-dimensional CAD solid model of a component from the numerically controlled (NC) fabrication(製作)instructions(命令)for the component that were previously used to fabricate the component by NC machining procedures.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Many engineering designs of machined components in current use(現在使用されている)were initially developed. prior to or without the aid of CAD systems and, consequently(従って、その結果), electronic representations of such designs do not exist. Accordingly, updating or making modifications to such component designs using current CAD processes requires first creating a computer-based digital representation of the component. Although methods have been developed for creation of computer-based representations from component drawings, photographs, and/or shop(仕事場、現場)measurements, these methods are tedious(面倒), expensive, and often produce inaccurate results.

In cases where(の場合)a component has been fabricated using NC machining processes, the NC instruction file or "book" contains fabrication instructions for NC machines to follow to produce all or part of that(その)component from a piece of raw stock material(素材), such as a metal billet. The stock material is often referred to in the CAD environment as a "tool solid." Broadly, the NC file describes the paths along which the fabrication machine operates one or more rotating cutting tools upon the tool solid to create the machined component.

Other processes have been used to generate engineering data from NC files; however, the output from these processes has been in the form of(の形、形式)point clouds and Stereo Lithography (STL) files, which are not fully compatible with(適合)modern CAD systems. As known in the art, a point cloud comprises(有する、成る)a plurality of coordinates for individual points that represent locations on the surface of an object. A point cloud can be generated through scanning or digitizing(デジタル化、二値化). An STL format model represents the surface of an object by a plurality of triangles, each triangle defined by the coordinates of its three vertices and a single normal vector directed away from the object's surface. Thus, these methods require extensive processing of the output files before the results can be utilized on a CAD system. Accordingly, it would be desirable to have a reliable, inexpensive, and accurate method of creating a CAD solid model of a component from the machine fabrication instruction file used for its fabrication.

Crouching Dragon Unit

2016-01-09 11:01:04 | 雑感

年末28日のInternational NYTには安藤昇氏のObituary ("Noboru Ando, mobster and film star in Japan, dies at 89", by William Grimes, International New York Times, Dec. 28, 2015, page 2)が出ていましたが、そこにはthe Crouching Dragon Unitに入隊したとあります。なるほど伏龍隊の訳かと納得でしたが、それに続けて"attached themselves to the hulls of enemy ships"とある。
