花火シリーズの３作目です。
花火大会は多くの場合　川とか湖水　港など
水辺で開催されます。
火の用心なのか山の頂上で打ち上げるというのは
あまり聞きません。
でも一度富士山山頂で　大花火大会を開いたら
どうでしょう。
夜だから富士山は見えなくとも　妙な位置の
空中で花火が上がっているなんて　素敵だと
想うのですが。
世界遺産（見送り）記念の時にでも..........

This is the third work in a series of Fireworks.
Most of the displays of fireworks are held on
the waterside, like rivers, lake or habors.
I haven't heard that they are shown on the top
of the mountains,
perhaps for avoiding a fire.....(?)
Imagine people holding Fireworks Show on the
top of Fujisan(Mt.Fuji)
In the dark, Fujisan may not appear, but it's
interesting fireworks are set off from a strange
position. It must be some view.
How about once declared a World Herritage site,
( or failed......)?

漬け物 Pickles

漬け物が大好きなのですが　市販のはあまり
おいしくないので　とうとう自分で
作り始めました。沢庵漬けは今年で３回目
人工添加物はいっさい入れていません。
にしん漬け（北海道の人は良く知っていると
思いますが）も昨年まで作っていたのですが
今年は暖冬の予想であきらめました。
白菜漬けは相方の作品です。大根も白菜も近くの
農家からいただいたものです。
杯は家宝の「灰釉無文酒器」（伝来子作）
酒は新潟の「越の寒中梅」（息子の土産）
結構なお味です！　星３つです！

I like pickles, but I don't like ready-made ones.
And at last, I started to make them myself
three years ago.
As for Takuwan(Daikon.....long radish pickles),
I took the third try this winter without using
artificial addictives.
I also pickled herrings and vegetables together
until last year.
but I gave it up because the prediction was for
a warm winter this year.
Hakusai(Chinese cabbage)pickles were made by
my partner.
All vegetables are presents from neighboring
farmers.
The Sake Cup is a family treasure.
Sake is " Kanchubai " from Nigata Pref.
Great ! 3 stars' taste !.

篠笛（２） Bamboo Flute (2)

たまに庭で笛を吹きます。
それまで楽しそうに鳴いていた小鳥たちや
カラスは急に鳴き止んで　どこかへ飛んで
行ってしまいます。
なぜかは深く考えないようにしています。.........

今年８０歳になる義母は　このブログの
私のプロフィール写真を見て　何かの串焼きを
食べているいるのかと　思ったそうです。
ショック！！！



I play the Bamboo Flute in the back yard
once in a while.
Birds singing cheerfully until then,
for some reason, suddenly stop and fly away.
I don't know why, but it hurts me a bit.

My mother-in-law aged 80 years, looked at
my profile photo on the blog and said,
" I thought you were eating Kusiyaki
(Kabob) or something",
Oh, it hurts me again !!!

今回始めて気がついたのですが　前回1/22のブログ
アメリカでの個展の案内状は「夢花火」でしたが
小林幸子あたりが歌う演歌のタイトルのようです。
「あなぁたぁーーどおして　いるーうかしぃらぁ」
タイトルに限って言えば　
今回は鳥羽一郎の演歌みたいです。
始めから気づいていればもう少し考えたのですが....
タイトルは　ほんと難しいです。

The hanga in my last blog was " Dream Fireworks"
It occurs to me that the title is like that of Enka.
which Kobayasi Sachiko sings(Japanese Enka singer)
for example.
This time " Fireworks-Great Catch-".......
like a Toba Ichiro's song(Enka singer, too)
I didn' t notice that until now.
Thinking titles is such a difficult work.
*[ Enka ] Japanese traditional popular songs.
(sometimes, kind of schmaltzy.......)

バークレーでの個展 My exhibition

今　カルフォルニア州バークレーの
クレアモントホテルで開かれている
展覧会の案内状です。
１月１日から３１日まで開かれています。
使われている版画は新作の「夢花火」です。
カルフォルニアは今年ひどい寒波だそうで
少し心配です。

This is an invitation to my exhibit
which runs January 1~31
at The Claremont Hotel in Berkeley Ca.
California is now hit by an awful
cold wave, I'm concerned about it.
This Hanga is the latest one
" Dream Fireworks"

版画の話（７） Hanga(7)

細密性と表現性で世界のトップ技術をもって
カラフルに刷られても　お札からは深い感動は
得られません。
版画はそれぞれの技術がどうしても必要ですが
やはり本質は絵そのものの中にあります。
心ですね。

Despite the fact that the bill is colorfully printed
by the world's highest technique, in minuteness
and expressivity, it won't make a great
impression on us.
Although each technique is requisite for each
Hanga making , in essence, it's the picture
itself that counts, i.e. soul.

しかし　世界最高の銅版画技術で刷られた
お札だとしても　それを見て心から感動する人は
少ないでしょう。
束にして１億円の山を見せられれば　少しは
目を奪われますが...........
その山を「どうぞ　差し上げます。」と
言われたら！　それはもう大きな大きな
感動ですが　　　　　　　　　　　　つづく

However, seeing a bill even by the world's best
technique, perhaps you won't get moved so
much.
Seeing the stacks of bills for a hundred
million yen, your eye should be grabbed,
of course.
If someone ever tell you " I' ll present them",
Wow ! it must be definitely moving.

版画の話（５） Hanga(5)

気づいていないと思いますが
ほとんどの人は版画を持っています。
量の多さは人それぞれですが..........
そう　「お札」です。
高倍率の虫メガネなどでお札を見ると
見事にインクが盛り上がっているのが
みえます。銅版画（エングレーヴィング
・直刻法）の技術です。
それも世界最高の技術です。　　つづく

You might not notice it, most of the
people have some hangas,
everybody has different quantity of
them though.
Yes, it is paper money.
Through a magnifying glass of high
power, you can see the ink beautifully
rise on a bill.
Engraving, which is one of intaglio
printmaking techniques, is used there.
It's said that Japanse bills are printed
by the world's best technique.

版画の話（４）Hanga(4)

再び版画の話です。
スクリーン印刷の版で意外なものでは
ステンレスを糸のように限りなく細くして
布に織り枠に張って　プリント基盤などの
超精密印刷に使用しています。
オフセット印刷並みに全自動システム印刷も
あります。
版面からインクを下に押し出す原理は
私の版画制作とまったく同じです。　つづく

About Hanga again.
In fact, making micromesh fabric out of
stainless steel and stretching it over a frame,
they use this method for ultra precise printing
for example on electric device.
There is full automatic printing system of this
method as well as that of offset.
The principle forcing ink through the screen,
forming an image on the materials below is
the very same method as my
Hanga-producing one.

ラーメン（１） Ramen(1)

今回は版画の話をちょっとお休みして
我が家のラーメンについてお話します。
相方の実家は親子三代に渡ってラーメンを
美味しく作る技を持つ家系です。
いつの間にか札幌ラーメンが味噌あじになる前の、
元祖ミソラーメンを名乗る店の親爺が
おこがましくも客に食べ方なぞを教える以前の、
満腹屋のおばちゃんが売り上げの札束（百円札）を
うれしそうに数えていた頃のラーメンです！
（この辺かなりローカルなので飛ばして読んで下さい）
自家製スープは凝らず、手間をかけず、
ちょんちょんと作ってしまいます。
色々な素材を何時間も煮込んでスープを取るなんて
そんな面倒な事はしません。
３０分もあれば作ってしまいます。
でもこれが美味しいんですね。
今回は少し趣向を変えて　鳥塩味スープです。
麺は札幌の菊水製麺のものです。
ごちそうさま！

版画の話（３）Hanga(3)

スクリーン印刷はペットボトルやカップヌードルの
曲面にも刷ります。CDやDVD、携帯電話の表示、
交通標識などにも利用されています。
プリントゴッコも原理はスクリーン印刷です。
古くでは謄写版も仲間です。

This method is used for printing on curved surfaces
of plastic bottles and cup noodles containers,
display of CD, DVD and cell phones.
Traffic signs as well.
Print-gokko("play-printing", sorry for literal
translation, it refers to small printers for
home-using) is the same method, in principle.
Going back, also the mimeograph.

版画の話（２） (2)Hanga

現在の孔版は布を張る枠も木からアルミへ
張る布もシルクからテトロン、ナイロンに変わり
スクリーン印刷として多方面に利用されています。
刷られる物も布、紙からアクリル、ガラス、金属
まで　多くの素材に利用されています。　つづく

As for stencil printing, wooden printing frames
have been replaced by aluminum ones.
Silk cloth stretched over the frames has been
replaced by synthetic fiber.
And nowadays, it is used in various field,
as screen printing.
Printed materials are also expanded from cloth
or paper to acrylic, glass, metal, you name it.

There is a whale-like huge airship mooring
in the riverbed.

版画の話（１） (1)Hanga (print work or print making)

今回から版画に関する話をしばらく続けたいと
おもいます。画像は我が家の今までの年賀状
（シルクスクリーン版画）を掲載してゆきます。

凹版（銅版画等）の技術はグラビア印刷へ
凸版（木版画等）は活版印刷へ
平版（リトグラフ）はオフセット印刷へと
発展しまた。
孔版（シルクスクリーン版画等）は古くからの
型染めなどの技術をベースに開発された比較的
新しい印刷法です。やはり浴衣やプリント柄の
布染めに多く使われてきました。　つづく

I'd like to write about Hanga for the time being.
The images are my old new year's greeting cards
printed by silk screen technique.
Hanga techniques have developed respectively
as follows.
Intaglio printing(etching etc) into gravure,
Relief printing(woodblock etc) into letterpress,
and Planografic printing(lithograph etc) into offset.
Stencil printing(silkscreen etc) is comparatively
new one, which has been developed from a method
of dyeing cloth, like Yukata (summer kimono) or
other pattern dyeing.

初夢 The New Year's Dream

『初夢』の時期で　ふっと想いました。
他の人から以前見た夢の話を聞かされるのは
多くの場合あまり楽しくありません。
苦痛の時もあります。
個人的すぎて　不合理な世界に共感できるところが
少ないからでしょう。夢を人に話すのも見せるのも
意外と難しいものです。

It's not so pleasant, as rather, painful to hear the story
about which another person dreamed last night.
It may be too personal to share his or her dream.
It's difficult to arouse the sympathy.
It may be necessary some skill,
to narrate or show own your dream to others.

明けましておめでとうございます

あけまして おめでとうございます。
今年もなんとかこのブログを続けたいと
思っております。
