（青春賦）
（日本橋を出発して五日目 Apr.10.’04.）
蕨市立民族歴史資料館で頂いた資料（歴史散歩案内）を基に、
史跡などを見学してみたい。
頂いた資料によれば、
南北朝時代に足利将軍の一門の渋川氏が築いた蕨城があった。
永禄１０年（１５６７年）上総の国三舟山合戦で、
里見氏に破れ戦死した渋川公とその戦死を悲しみ
群馬県の榛名湖に入水した夫人を祀ったお墓がある
お寺（宝樹院）を訪ねたい。
渋川公夫妻の２５０年忌を記し文化１３年（１８１６年）に
子孫が造立したお墓がある。
寺の本堂脇の木陰にひっそりと夫婦の墓が建っている。
寄り添うように立っているお墓を見ると、
生前の仲の良さが感じられ、微笑ましい。
ボクたち夫婦もかく在りたいと願うばかりである。
元来た道を戻り、蕨城址へ。ここは和楽備神社に隣接している。
場所は蕨市役所の裏手に当たる。
和楽備神社は戦国時代に渋川公が八幡大神を祀ったもので、
神社名については土地の名前「わらび」としたが
「蕨」一字では重みに欠けたので、万葉仮名を用いて
「和楽備神社」としたという。
境内の水屋には、大型の水盤がある。
これは安山岩製の大型の水盤で、寛永寺旧在とも言われている。
この水盤の特徴は、大型で四隅を入隅式とするところにある。
こうした大型水盤は江戸時代初期に限られ、しかも大名家墓所や
格式のある社寺に見られる程度。
また入隅式は徳川家ゆかりの場合が多いようである

和楽備神社の隣が蕨城址で、蕨城址は小公園になっており、
ここを挟んで市役所がある。
この蕨城は大永４年（１５２４）に北条氏綱により攻撃され
破壊され、江戸時代には家康が御殿をおいた。
城址の遺構は僅かに堀圧が残されているだけ。
大正１４年埼玉県指定史跡。 （蕨市教育委員会）
この城址跡の小公園に、ボクの好きなサムエル・ウルマンの詩
「青春賦」の石碑が英文と日本語で紹介されている。
（青春） サミュエル・ウルマン
（青春とは人生のある期間を言うのではなく、心の持ち方を言う。
たくましい意志と、ゆたかな創造力、炎える情熱、
弱気を退ける勇気、安易を振り捨てる冒険心、
こういう様相を青春という。年を重ねただけで人は老いない。
理想を失うとき初めて老いが来る。

十六歳であろうと六十歳であろうと、
人は信念と共に若く 疑惑と共に老いる。
人は自信と共に若く 恐怖と共に老いる。
希望ある限り若く 失望と共に老いる。）
頭を上げ希望の波をとらえる限り、
八十歳であろうと青春であり続けることが出来る。
この分ではボクは何時までも青春であり続ける。
石碑に書かれた文章を下記に紹介しておく、
Youth (Samuel Ullman)

Years may wrinkle the skin but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry fear self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit backto dust.
Whether sixty or sixteen there is in every human beingユs heart the lure of wonder the unfailing child-like appetite whatユs next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty hope cheer courage and power from men and from the infinite so long are you young.
When the aerials are down and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism then you are grown old even at twenty but as long as your aerials are up to catch the waves of optimism there is hope you may die young at eighty.
