10人の乙女ら matthew 25:1-13, BWV140

新約聖書に、こんなたとえ話がある。

 

・・・天の御国（みくに）は、たとえて言えば、それぞれがともしびを持って、

花婿（はなむこ）出迎える十人の娘のようです。

“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

 

 

^{そのうち五人は愚かで、五人は賢かった。}

² Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

 

愚かな娘たちは、ともしびは持っていたが、油を用意しておかなかった。

³ Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,

 

賢い娘たちは、自分のともしびといっしょに、入れものに油を入れて持っていた。

⁴ but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

 

花婿が来るのが遅れたので、みな、うとうとして眠り始めた。

⁵ But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

 

 

^{ところが、夜中になって、『そら、花婿だ。迎えに出よ。』と叫ぶ声がした。}

⁶ “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’

娘たちは、みな起きて、自分のともしびを整えた。

⁷ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

 

ところが愚かな娘たちは、賢い娘たちに言った。

『油を少し私たちに分けてください。

　私たちのともしびは消えそうです。』

⁸ And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’

 

しかし、賢い娘たちは答えて言った。

『いいえ、あなたがたに分けてあげるにはとうてい足りません。

　それよりも店に行って、自分のをお買いなさい。』

⁹ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’

 

 

 

そこで、買いに行くと、その間に花婿が来た。

用意のできていた娘たちは、彼といっしょに婚礼の祝宴に行き、戸が閉められた。

¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

^{『ご主人さま、ご主人さま。あけてください。』と言った。}

¹¹ “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’

 

しかし、彼は答えて、『確かなところ、私はあなたがたを知りません。』と言った。

¹² But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

 

 

　だから、目をさましていなさい。

　あなたがたは、その日、その時を知らないからです。・・・

¹³ “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

「備えは大事ですよ、といふこと。」
