モーセ死す、享年120歳 Deuteronomy 34:1-7

(青森空港から出発後の車窓から。2023年3月15日。前回と異なり、今回は毎年恒例の作業のため。今年は初めて徹夜せずに済んだ。感謝。)

 

 

 

　モーセはモアブの草原からネボ山、すなわち、エリコの向かいにあるピスガの頂に登った。

 

Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is across from Jericho.

 

主(しゅ)は彼に次の全地方をお見せになった。ギルアデをダンまで、

 

And the Lord showed him all the land of Gilead as far as Dan,

 

 

ナフタリの全土、エフライムとマナセの地、ユダの全土を西の海まで、

 

all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh,

all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea,

 

 

 

ネゲブと低地を、すなわち、なつめ椰子の町エリコの平地をツォアルまで。

 

the South, and the plain of the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar.

そして主は彼に言われた。

「わたしがアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに

『あなたの子孫に与える』

と誓った地はこれである。

 

わたしはこれをあなたの目に見せたが、

あなたがそこへ渡って行くことはできない。」

 

Then the Lord said to him,

“This is the land of which I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying,

‘I will give it to your descendants.’

 

I have caused you to see it with your eyes,

but you shall not cross over there.”

 

 

こうしてその場所で、主のしもべモーセは主の命によりモアブの地で死んだ。

 

So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord.

 

主は彼を、ベテ・ペオルの向かいにあるモアブの地の谷に葬られたが、今日に至るまで、その墓を知る者はいない。

 

And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor;

but no one knows his grave to this day.

モーセが死んだときは百二十歳であったが、彼の目はかすまず、気力も衰えていなかった。

 

Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.

So we shall be separate, Your people and I,

from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”

この世と調子を合わせてはいけません。

いや、むしろ、心を新たにすることで、自分を変えていただきなさい。

 

そうすれば、神のみこころは何か、

すなわち、何が良いことで、神に受け入れられ、

完全であるのかを見分けるようになります。』

(訳すのが少々難しい中動相の動詞 μεταμορφοῦσθε が入っているため、普段使っている訳ではなく、最近、訳し直された新改訳2017から引用。

日本語では、今まで能動態的な「自分を変えなさい」といった訳が多かったが、それも間違いではない。

中動相は、いわゆる能動態と受動態のどちらの意味も合わさったような感じであるため、「自分で自分を変えようと努力する」ことも、「神様に自分を変えていただく」ことも同時に現している感じ。)

 

 

鍛練(たんれん)、敬虔(けいけん) 1 Timothy 4：8

『肉体の鍛練(たんれん)もいくらかは有益ですが、

今のいのちと未来のいのちが約束されている敬虔(けいけん)は、

すべてに有益です。』

昼も夜も口ずさめ、そうすれば Joshua 1：8

 

『この律法(りっぽう)の書を、あなたの口から離さず、昼も夜も

それを口ずさまなければならない。

そのうちにしるされているすべてのことを守り行うためである。

 

 

そうすれば、あなたのすることで繁栄(はんえい)し、

また栄(さか)えることができるからである。』
